Due to Melody playing Odyssey in English, there’s some excitement in the sub. we still didn’t get any official confirmation on whether they’re going to play hdr dcp from show 1 or not. So if anyone has that clarification, please post.

Also, with Spiderman coming in 2 weeks, will Melody be showing that as well?

Still no updates on AAA cinemas, so that hope for spiderman is gone. So Melody is our last resort for that movie as well.

Can the Varanasi team make a custom DCP for PCX exclusively which has the same 1.43:1 aspect ratio for select few scenes and the rest of the scenes being 1.85:1 scenes?

IMAX GT laser uses dual laser barco projectors very much like the ones at PCX. The key challenge for other Hollywood movies is the IMAX exclusive agreements and of course they don’t care about PCX/Hyderabad. But since Varanasi is Telugu movie, can this be not done?

PCX current screen is 101x64 (1.58:1), and in reality it’ll be close 97 feet width due to the cloth fitting. So the 1.43:1 scenes can easily look similar to a 60ft true IMAX. The projectors are pretty much similar and capable. The only variable is the server (that pcx uses to play the dcp file) and the dcp itself. If the Varanasi team is willing, dcp shouldn’t be a problem (I don’t think they have imax exclusive clauses, right?) and now coming to the server part of the PCX (aka Prasad’s). Since Prasad’s lab has deep industry connects they should be willing to cooperate with Varanasi team to create this special event experience?

Any info regarding things moving in this direction? If not can someone reach out to them to move in this direction?

I’m aware nothing is confirmed and it’s all at a rumor stage. But I just want us to have a fun little discussion, because this is probably the biggest thing (or disappointment) that’s going to happen for Vizag theatres scene.

Currently there are two types of LED cinema screens

1. Older type where the screen is a solid LED block/frame. Due to this the speakers can’t be placed directly behind the screen like other cinemas. So as a workaround they keep the front speakers on the sides and top and bottom. This means sound is slightly off calibrated, and also you can’t have a full wall to wall fov experience.
2. Newer LED screens (acoustic sound transparent) first installed by CINITY PLF in China. They’ve very small holes in the LED so you can have speakers like usual theatres behind the screen and also edge to edge field of view immersive experience. These theatres are touted to be the best in the world and James Cameron mentioned these to be his preferred cinemas for Avatar even beating Dolby cinema.

Coming to India scene:

All current LED screens in India are by Onyx (Samsung) which are the old type ones. I’m not sure about the Hyderabad 30 feet AAA Cinemas LED screen since it doesn’t have explicit onyx branding but it’s rumored to be Samsungs only (but confirmed though). If at all our giant led screen rumor is true (20 mts or 65-67 feet), the max configuration Samsung currently provides is of 20M variety and this will be a fantastic screen but the audio will slightly suffer due to it being the older solid block kind.

But, there’s one exciting thing I found. Qube officially (Epiq) partnered with DLS company to strengthen their Epiq luxon branding by providing LOPU manufactured cineledmax screens which are sound transparent screens which are very similar to the CINITY LED screens in China. Their partnership was announced in Mar 2026.

So now question is mana AAA cinemas lo rumored LED screen will be of the old kind or it’s going to be this new type based on this new partnership? Is the announcement too recent for it to be executed in AAA vizag which is going to be opening soon?

I don’t have any clue, but in case we get the new LOPU manufactured 67 feet transparent screen, then it’s going to be the best screen in the country by a huge margin. Only CINITY has similar or better implementation. So it’ll be world class.

Last week in bookmyshow I saw the tag HDR by barco and saw Peddi in Melody marked as HDR. (Which it was not during its release).

Likewise now for Ma intiki Bangaaram it’s tagged as HDR. Can anyone confirm they are indeed playing hdr dcp?

In an interview Asian Sunil Narang told AAA cinemas in inorbit construction will be completed and open by July end. No update on tech specs though.

Anyone has any info from any sources?

Anyone who’s working on the construction etc. any info on when they’re planning to open? And any idea on screen tech specs etc?

Odyssey ki will we have one decent screen?

Are there any existing groups or organizations that are already there in vizag which support home schooling etc.? Just a collective/group of these parents also will do.
