I don't have any photo ID. My mother hasn't renewed my passport since pre-covid and I never needed to open a bank account because I was paid cash in hand. But now I can't open a bank account without photo ID.

My passport is expired and Polish, meaning I have to go to Manchester to get it renewed. Expensive and annoying, and both of my parents refuse to help me financially (or even emotionally. My mother just straight up told me it's my fault and to figure it out when I was stressing over this but I literarily can't find a way. She also knows nothing about my child trust fund so I have to figure out how to find that myself too at some point). Passports take weeks to come, and by the time I get an appoint and receive my passport and open a bank account and apply for student finance, will it be too late for September? Especially because appointments at the Polish consult are full (I have been checking for weeks, they are always full).

I seriously don't know what to do. I can't open a bank account until I have a valid photo ID. My college told me I'd be fine bringing my expired passport + birth certificate + letter from my college saying I'm a full time student and I'm planning to go to university +NI number. I called up every bank in my area asking if this is enough ID/what else I needed that WASN'T photo ID and still, not a single bank will let me open an account. Is there any other way?

I start my undergraduate Biomedical Engineering (BEng) degree in September. Recently, I've been very anxious because going to university is scary and a big change, but AI taking over jobs is pushing me to my limit and I don't even want to go any more. To get into the medical field there's years of study. By the time I finish, will AI be taking over anyway?
