I have $10,764.85 sitting in my business account and I'm not sure what to do with it

July was a strange month, one of my gest so far. A bunch of unexpected expenses hit me, but I also closed more business than usual, and somehow ended with $10,764.85 after covering everything.

Part of me says yes! It's August - vacation month, let's take a vacation. I've been at the grind for a few years now without a real break and to be frank, I'm exhausted!

The other part keeps thinking about taxes, slower months, the next surprise expense - stuff that keeps me up at night, so I decide that I should just leave all of it there. Ya know, do the impossible thing, but I really need that vacation! urrrrrrrgh, not sure what to do!

I've never had this problem before. I was running off credit cards on a deficit for months, and those stretches were very, very difficult to get through. I'm not out of the woods yet. But part of me thinks a break might actually be smart move - clear my head before the Fall and continue to grind till the end of the year!

Thoughts, anyone?

I almost used the wrong card for a business expense today.

I'm running a small business here in Canada, and today I almost paid for a business expense with my personal card without even realizing it.

I caught it before the payment went through, but it made me realize how easy it is for things to get messy when you're juggling client work, admin, and everything else.

I'm trying to build better habits now while the business is still growing instead of trying to clean up mistakes later.

Has anyone else gone through this? If so, what helped you keep your business finances organized day to day?

Does anyone else constantly feel like they're behind?

I don't know if this is just part of running a business, but lately I feel like my to-do list grows faster than I can finish it.

I'll cross five things off, then somehow add another ten.

Some days I feel productive, and other days I wonder if I actually moved the business forward or just stayed busy.

Does that feeling ever go away?

Or is it just something every business owner deals with?

Do you ever feel like you're working all day but not actually moving your business forward?

Lately I've had a few days where I was busy from morning until evening, but when I looked back, I couldn't really point to anything that actually helped my business grow.

I answered emails, dealt with little issues, organized files, followed up with people.... but it felt like I spent the whole day maintaining the business instead of building it.

I'm still trying to figure out how to balance the day-to-day work with the things that actually move the business forward.

Has anyone else gone through this?

What changed for you?
