I NEED ADVICE SO I DONT WASTE MORE TIME

Its my first time at a university. I really dont understand what i should focus on. We have lectures with our teacher 3 times a week. Should i focus on reading the articles that my teacher goes trough? Like what they are lecturing on, is what is most important?

Every week we geet a sheet with different questions about topics. Should i focus on what those papers are asking about? When reading articles, i know what to focus on by the lecturings, the sheets? Please people i want to start to study effectively, but i cant even stay calm or focused or organized when i dont know what to do. Im really not able to learn 200pages of articles. I have a learning disability so i learn slower.

Is my study method good?

First time at uni. There are many articles to read. Im new to academic reading. I have read only 3 pages, and it took med 2 days. I need to first read the pages, write sentences down, ask chatgpt what each word means, how they make sense in a sentence, so that i can recognize these kind of words later in my academic years. After that, i try to say it out loud, say it out loud again without looking at my papers.

Im not going to lie, this was utterly hard for my brain. Im hoping it gets easier with time and practice, since my vocabulary isn’t good. I think my IQ has lowered the past 10 years doing nothing with my life, and just scrolling. So im also doing this spesific studying to actually sharpen my brain, my vocabulary and to fully understand what im reading. It takes me alot of time, and i have ALOT to cover. But what this teaches me can never be taken away from me. I can already feel im getting smarter just after 2 days.

Is it possible to cover many more pages and doing more intense studying after 1-3 weeks? Or else i wont be able to be finished with everything i need to be finished with..

Am i being weak, or is this acceptable for week 1?

I started uni this week. I didnt start to study until 2 days ago. I have read 3 pages of articles. And im still not done. I studied 4 hours today, 2 hours yesterday. Its so hard for my brain. It wants to give up so quickly and i get drained so easily. I have SO much to cover. I made a plan, but the plan was too «soft» because i could not cover all the chapters until my deadline (10 days). I wrote it it by what i think im able to do with the mindset i have now.

So i need to rewrite the plan, to read even more to be able to cover everything i need to. Im so overwhelmed and we havent started fully with the lectures yet!

Am i being too soft? I havent used my brain since april. Will it get better? Will i have better tolerance/be able to study and focus more with time? How many pages is it normal to read for a normal uni student? I need some tough love, but i also need to know if im being too hard on my self?

My first day of studying

I have read 4 pages of articles. Planning on doing flashcards/quiz my self after that, and then call it a day. Is this good or bad for being the very first day of studying after starting uni?

Is my study method good for a slow learner?

First time at uni. Reading articles, i dont understanf the context. Many heavy words. What i do is i read 2 pages, try to understand, copy it on AI, and ask if they can try to summarize what the pages are about. At the same time i write it down on paper, to really understand it. And then i write on the corner of my book what many difficult words actually means, so i can recognize it when i read more articles.

And then read the article again, and i find myself understanding it better.

It takes time, but what is the point of trying to read more and quicker when i dont understand anything?

First week of uni, do u start stuying right away?

Hi guys, i just started uni this week. First time as a 28 year old. It’s been overwhelming to say it at least. This degree will determine my future. I have no room to fail, i must do this, i have to get good grades.

I got super unsure of how to study, the first days was to get to know each other, get to know the university etc etc. Today was the first lecture.

I was planning on doing a study plan, and read more today, but i just didnt. I learn slower than other students, so i need to put in more effort.

I feel like a failure by not starting to study properly yet, even if its the first week.

How normal is it to start studying the first week? The first exam will be next month on the 9th.

Tusen takk for alle svar❤️
