Update. DKC2 lives once again.
Wanted to post an update in case anyone has to do the same in the future. Definitely should have used Kapton tape to keep the pins cleaner, but it does still works.

I bought an Aeriola Sr. a year ago that was in very rough shape and missing half it's box. When an empty box in decent shape (just missing a hinge) popped up on Ebay, I decided to give it a go.
I fixed a couple of shorts and a bad resistor/capacitor and was able to get it working. I had to do a lot of cleaning and replacing of rusted/rotten parts. New wood control board, dials had to be completely redone, etc. Luckily I found a nearly identical hinge on Etsy.
The WD-11 the radio came with actually still worked, but it was the shorter height version that didn't work well in this model, plus the glue holding the base on gave out and the bulb separated from it (I plan to fix it). I built a new and better replacement from a 5676 sub-miniture tube.
I got a pair of headphones for the radio, but the wires on them had shorts. I ended up having to replace all the wires, making my own from paracord sheathed wires to keep the cloth look.
Finally, I used any salvageable wood that was leftover from the original box to make a housing for the batteries and an AM transmitter. I loaded up a micro SD card with a bunch of old songs and can listen to them like someone 100 years ago.
