Rusted Antenna
I have a weird impulse to buy older radios in thrift stores, after gaining my Grandpa's after his passing. Found this and it seems to work otherwise but the tip of the antenna has rusted off and detached. Is there a DIY fix I can use to get it to work, can I find a piece that fits, or should I accept my new non-functional decor?
Help with smell

Looking For Someone Experienced In Dumping & Extracting Audio Files From ROMs out of any type of electronics
Hi! I hope this is the right place for me to ask my questions that have to do with finding someone experienced with ROM dumping & extracting audio from sound chips out of any type of electronics, but I truly need some help. Is there anyone that I could go to who is highly experienced with dumping ROMs to extract the files of all audio stored in any electronics like specific animated toys and others in general? I’m having a difficult time trying to find someone experienced with that stuff since I’m not experienced myself, and I’m not sure who is the right person to go for to discuss about requests about ROM audio dumping and extracting out of any electronics upon request. I really want to find someone who would be willing to help out with some research projects I have in mind that I want to do ROM dumping & audio extracting on if any of you guys have any idea of who I should go to.
Recently in the past months, a friend and I had a specific electronic toy (which is a Hasbro I-Cat) that actually somehow revealed a few unused audios that has never been heard of before while it was glitching at one point, which lead us to believe that there could be much more hidden stuff in its sound chip which I was the one who thought of the idea to find someone who’s willing to help me and experienced to work on that if possible. The Hasbro I-Cat is not the only thing I’d like to find out hearing all audio files of its recorded sounds and songs to also reveal any unused ones hidden, as well as hear them all in the clearest quality possible with the ROM dumping and audio extraction way than what you hear in the speaker itself in the toy (I-Cat in this case), there’s other ones I had in mind like the Hasbro Original 1998 Furby that also revealed a few unused audio in its sound chip that also somehow revealed while it glitched as well which is another one of the many research projects I had in mind to ask someone to help out with regarding ROM dumping and audio file extracting.
I took photos of what is believed to be where the sound chip is in the Hasbro I-Cat that we first experienced unused audio playing out of nowhere and never heard again from it that would have to do with the sound chip itself where all of its recorded sounds and songs are in that is covered in the black stuff that keeps it protected to help for reference as an example.
If there’s anyone you guys know of that I can contact and ask about my exciting research project about ROM dumping & audio extracting any electronics I have planned in mind that I can request and chat with, please let me know. I also have the items that I’d like this done with to whoever can help out with that I can send as long as they know what they’re doing and if they’d be fine after the successful audio extracting from the ROM sound chips in each electronic item I plan to get done for that need it. Please advise soon if possible & who I should go to that can help out with this for me, if this is the right place for me to ask as I wasn’t sure what other community to go to since finding someone experienced with that is HARDER than I thought it would be apparently. Thank you 😊
NOS keypad wiring
I have a 1979 western electric 2500DM phone and I'm replacing the keypad for it so I can dial out. The old keypad has 8 wires and the new electric one only has 5, does anyone know how to wire this properly?
Trying to fix a vintage Sony Alarm Clock
Hello, I was just gifted with this very cool Sony TFM-C480L Alarm Clock and some features dont work. I managed to fix a bad solder on the lamp of the sound radio so it now gets good signal, but the volume is very low, I can only hear with maximum volume and no movements or noise, the quality of the sound is good however. The second thing is quite weird, I can set it to an alarm at a given time, with a buzzer or thé radio, as the button shows : button down for radio, up for buzzer. However, no matter the setup, it always goes for the radio. I opened the thing but cannot see a visible flaw. Any ideas ?
When was this Casio DL-210 calculator made?
Found it while cleaning out our garage; I couldn’t find anything on it. My guess is 1975-1995, but I’m not an expert on it.
The Panasonic NV-LC1 from Japan, an interesting clamshell portable TV and camcorder rolled into one.
I don't personally own this device but I thought I would share it here first.
I assume (?) there is something wrong with the camera sensor or the capacitors (likely both), the camera doesn't respond to any button presses besides blinking a red light and flashing an error on the screen that says "F 03", and supposedly this is Panasonic's error code for insufficient power, although I had this hooked up via. the proprietary power adapter.
Also the camera quality is incredibly blurry and looks incredibly bland and colorless (not B&W however), and the zoom in/out does not work nor does it change anything.
(there's also a focus button, but alas that didn't work either)
I'm not sure if that is CCD snsor failure or the capacitors giving up on everything, which could explain why it doesn't have "sufficient" power. (hell, it could even be the power adapter)
There is no battery in it but anything that can run off the wall shouldn't need one to begin with.
It's a bummer really, the fact that this is technically a mini S VHS-C VCR portable TV/camcorder really intrigued me. I don't think VHS-C camcorders are likely not very popular on this subreddit vs. Video 8/MiniDV camcorders but this one is certainly more unique than a Panasonic Palmcorder.

Sensitive Research, University Ammeter
Hello, electrical engineer who is still new to actually diving in to the vintage electronics world. I recently acquired several older electrical signal generators, testing equipment, etc. I'm interested in anything anyone might know about this ammeter in particular. Thank you!!

$1 thrift store find
Check out this groovy beauty from 1973. Inop at purchase, came from a smoker’s home (and I’m pretty sure that wasn’t nicotine) so I gave it a solid scrubbing, oiling and cleaning and now it is indistinguishable from new. Solid tuner in this thing too, picking up all kinds of AM skip even through forest fire smoke! Solid, man… ✌️ ☮️
Took apart old iDog to restore, realized I was in over my head.
I love watching those old school game system restorations on YouTube. When I found my old iDog speaker and saw the condition, I stupidly thought I could do the same thing as those people did. I thought wrong 😑 I looked at YouTube channels I had been watching to see if I could see how much it was to send it in for repair (and give them potential content), but I found out very quickly that all of them were either European or not taking things from subscribers.
I live in the USA and I am willing to ship it anywhere in the states. If there is a recommendation of who to contact (who may also want to get some content for their channel for it), then I would love to reach out to them. I also don’t have a lot of money, so if it is an expensive ask, then I will sadly just pitch it.
UPDATE: I have put it back together as much as I could, but there are a couple screws left. It obviously doesnt work anymore, so I think it would be nice to have fixed in the future, but right now, it is just chilling on my desk.
how rare is this and how to get rid od the beeping when its working?
Panasonic TR-802 Solid-State CRT TV
Somewhat recently, I went to my local electronics recycling center to look for CRTs, when I came across this lovely Panasonic Solid-State that still worked! I purchased it and took it home where I cleaned it off a little bit. Luckily, it still works with added adapters, and I'm now able to play games on it!
Over 40 years old — and still glowing
Did you know the Z5900M Nixie tubes we're using are more than 40 years old?
It is truly mind-blowing how all of these tubes survived until today and are still glowing like they did decades ago!
Not only that, most of them have a history of being used in calculators and lab instruments, which gives each of them a unique journey.
Vacuum tubes and projectors
My local historical society was having a yard sale and I stopped by. I had previously done some IT work for them so they gave me a lot of stuff for free. I don’t even know what most of this stuff is. Also a tape of the Hindenburg destruction!
