Nursing Prep Schedule

Hi! I'm Jaime, my family and I are newcomers from the Philippines, and I just got admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences Nursing Prep.

I wanted to ask for feedback on my planned schedule for the fall sem and any other tips you may have before I start my new journey at USask. I wanted to join an LC, but it seems to be closed and full. I was also planning on taking BIOL 120.3 and NURS 120.3. Unfortunately, they are all full, as are many other classes. As shown in the picture, I am waitlisted for 3 out of 5 classes.

I'd appreciate any insights or thoughts on this, and I'm also open to finding people with similar schedules to make friends with. Thank you!

Newcomers experience/help

Hi, I'm 18 male, and my family and I just moved to Saskatoon from the Philippines just over a week ago, and this has so far been my experience.

During the first week, most of our documents and programs have been filled out, especially with the different services. We got a bit more familiar with the area we live in (Sutherland) by walking around, since people keep saying the weather is nice (this is considered really cold from where we came from lol).

My mom and I already tried volunteering at different places a couple of days ago. Already did a shift at both the Food Bank and the Friendship Inn to maybe get some experience in and get an idea of how the locals go on about. I plan on continuing to volunteer and maybe expanding to different organizations. Because it's better to go out and do something than to just sit in our apartment doing nothing. I am also ongoing with my USASK application, which I hope to pass to get settled in with the education system, since I have little idea of what I am getting myself into.

I wanna ask what other activities we can do, especially in volunteering and getting more experience with how life goes here. It really is just me, my mom, and my dad, so it gets a bit lonely, especially when my friends and family are on the other side of the world. I want to make myself busy and not think a lot about that, especially now, since I don't have any friends around here in Saskatoon. I know people are very approachable here and nice (at least from where we came from), but yeah, it's been a bit overwhelming at some points.

Also, I wanted to ask about other places we could visit that can be easily accessed through transit, since we also use the bus. I'm also open to making new friends here (leave me a message if you're interested too!), which is what I also plan to do during volunteering, so yeah. Feel free to drop what you guys have in mind, and thanks in advance!
