[IL-2 Korea] Optimizing performance on Asymmetric X3D CPUs

[IL-2 Korea] Optimizing performance on Asymmetric X3D CPUs

I use an AMD 9950X3D CPU, and noticed that the "Black Thursday" mission is CPU bound on my system. I then discovered that IL-2 Korea isn't detected by the Windows game bar as a game, and therefore it's not scheduling the threads on the correct CPU (the one with V-cache).

Hoping this video helps others with a similar CPU.

VKB FFB Base Speculation?

Anyone else looking at this initial crop of post-patent FFB bases and scratching your head at some of the design decisions? I'm still on the popular GFIII + MCGU combo, and I sorely want to jump into FFB, but given this current crop I just can't get excited about this current crop:

  • Moza's are priced fairly, and the AB9 feel is apparently good and strong enough for most (AB6 has some grittiness because of the gears), but the AB9's design is just too massive. This is made worse as the pivot is dead center in the middle, while everyone else (Virpil, WinCtrl, etc.) is biased towards the user. I hope the next revision is biased.
  • Virpil's look like they have more torque than you'd ever want (25Nm/45Nm), but they're even bigger than the AB9 although the pivot is biased towards the user. But the price is rough, and the 4-sided glass enclosure is a bizarre choice. Would have much rather had regular metal, especially with more mounting options (like the AB9 has). Their FFB SW story is still an unknown, although I expect them to deliver something better than Moza given their history.
  • WinCtrl (fmrly WinWing)'s solutions look huge but are interesting design... but they of course have their horrid customer service reputation. That would be enough for me to avoid them altogether, but then comes the additional pain of being vendor locked to their sticks, at least if common knowledge is supposed to be believed.
  • VPForce/FFBeast/etc. look like viable options, but are similarly huge, and are otherwise unpolished designs that I'm not sure I want to invest in.

That leaves VKB... has anyone heard any rumors of what their FFB solution will be like? I'm hoping they can come out of left field and demonstrate a more sensible solution, along these lines:

  • Smaller size. Leverage smaller, more powerful motors.
  • No "window" gimmicks (like Virpil).
  • Multiple, practical mounting options.
  • No vendor lockout. Although I'd expect VKB to continue using their own mounting solution. This would probably turn out to be the biggest negative for some, but I don't think the more-common TM-style connector to be very good (so I'd understand if VKB wants to keep doing their own thing, as much as I want cross-vendor compatibility).
  • Robust SW solution out of the gate. This might be the hardest thing to deliver.

I'd pay a premium for a design like this. To me, this market feels like an open goal at the moment, at least at the higher-end.

Anyone feeling the same?
