Stop the Datacentre

Bob Bailey has said Microsoft is interested in building a data centre in Sarnia, and so we asked city council who would be willing to look at a Moratorium on it.

Data centres have been known to create noise pollution, water pollution, they do not create meaningful long term jobs and depending on how specific ones are handled the cost of the electricity is often passed on to the home owners and renters paying hydro.

See what your councillors have responded with at the linked website.

Pride on the ballot

HAPPY PRIDE!!!!

It may not seem like a municipal issue or even a very important one for many as we head to the ballot boxes in the coming months but please remember municipal councillors are elected to represent everyone in Sarnia not just cishet white men and protecting our minority groups and disenfranchised is their responsibility.

If you see a Candidate out supporting Pride or if you see a Candidate hating on any particular group of people make sure to post about it so we can all make informed decisions.

We need to do something and fast about AI in the classroom and the idea that children can learn without a human teacher

An article (pages 8 and 9) in the magazine "Canadian Teacher" was shared with me and I just...

On top of all the other issues with AI-

Who's watching these kids? Are we expecting a parent to stay home? Are we going to keep screaming about birth rates when the schools aren't minding our children while both parents work?

Why are we ignoring the science that says increased screen time lowers grades?

Are we ignoring the fact that schools teach more than math but they teach community, social skills, conflict resolution, healthy relationships and may very well be the only place children can meet friends? I cant even begin to state how bad this is that its being said at all let alone in an education magazine.

Its bad enough AMIRA has already infected my child's classroom to teach kids to read but the idea that THIS could ever be a solution is despicable.
