Missed flight after pre-clearing US customs. Airline advised to re-enter Canada. How will the US know I left?
I’m a permanent resident of Canada and a citizen of another country. I was flying from Canada to my home country with a connection in the US. I cleared the US customs but missed my flight out of Pearson. I then went to the Air Canada customer service and they advised me to re-enter Canada. I asked “but how will the US customs know I left? They have an entry record but won’t have an exit record” and the Air Canada agent told me “they don’t care, people miss their flights all the time, just re-enter Canada”. I did as I was told and re-entered Canada using my PR card (as I can’t enter using my passport since I’m a PR). But now I’m anxious that there’s an entry record in the US but there won’t be an exit one. How will they know I’m not overstaying there?
