plastic Ailthean question - what to do with the "flavor bits"

So I've just put together an Ailthean tractor, and I noticed that on the sprue there are a couple of cool looking backpacks and a couple of sacks with various supplies, including the inevitable and charming baguettes. But I've not seen a single finished Ailthean that uses those parts, and I wonder what to do with them! It feels a little strange just sticking them on there willy nilly, but I'd like to use them if I can. Has anyone else used them, and how? Or maybe hanging it on there haphazardly IS what the crew would do, because it's not like Quar vehicles are super-roomy inside and they need to stow their gear anywhere that works.

What do you think?

The whole village, plus closeups of the windmill!

Here's everything I've done so far, all together, plus some closeups of the windmill, which I am a bit happy with.

The windmill is a Halfling piece from Dark Realms Forge on MyMiniFactory, the square house with the flower vines is from Galandir's Pie & Cie, the tree is from Custom Miniature Maker, and everything else is of course actually Quar qua Quar.

Tollyn Maeryn Torwyth medium assault tractor

This was a lot of fun to paint. I noticed that young quar have smaller spots, and since the Tollyn Maeryn are meant to be an army of kids and old men, I followed that here and tried to give him just a few little specks. (I also can't help but notice that a young quar's little spots are reminiscent of our own pimply faces as teenagers...) I will probably go back and freehand the Crusade symbol on the side somewhere, but I haven't decided where.

This was an FDM print, and while there are some printy textures on the model, I think it ended up looking fine. If anything it looks like the machine is kinda banged up, which it should as the Torwyth is described as kind of a relic, an old machine relegated to back line duty with the TM. In Maer Braech, you can join the regular army and go fight, or you can join the Tollyn Maeryn to be fought in case the war comes home (while you sincerely hope it doesn't.)

Windmill and Beacon Tower printed

I finished printing the windmill at last, it took several days and for some reason the blades of the windmill failed three times before a successful print. The beacon tower was a perfect angel to print, no issues at all. And behind them, the half-finished blossoming cherry tree.

The windmill will have a removable top and a painted, playable interior. The top section isn't glued so the vanes can face how you wish, as the whole top is supposed to be able to swivel. Technically, this is a halfling piece, and while it is very Hobbity the quar aren't that far off.

So, do we pronounce these names as if they were Welsh?

I'm asking because I'm wondering if the force I'm assembling is supposed to be the TOLL-en MIRE-en of MIRE BRIKE, rather than the Tollyn Mare-in of Mare Breech. I strongly suspect it's the former.

Maebwysh Thalvar Combat Wagon and a flowering cherry tree

The table is coming together, and of course even though it has no stats yet and probably no place thematically in a force I'm likely to play, I could not resist printing this adorable toy ball. Believe it or not both of these are FDM prints, I did have to spend some time sanding the wagon and probably have a fair bit more yet to do, but the print lines aren't that bad, even on the quar himself. The cherry tree is from Custom Miniature Maker and is part of the Yokai Garden set he sells, but I think they're sold individually, there's a set of three. Took a whole day to print. Supports were a nightmare to remove but the print itself looks great, and there's like 200 blossoms on this thing to paint! Had to attack the underside with a torch to burn off all the raggedy bits underneath, but you can't see that unless you pick it up and examine it.

A charming house!

Been at painting this all day. Finished printing it yesterday before starting the tractor I posted earlier. Feeling pretty good about it, I just love this model, it's another one from Josh's MMF site. I love the off-kilter Quarness of it all, you know?

There's one illustrated panel where there's a Quar skyline with colorful roofs, and I wanted to put it on my table. I've got a windmill to print that will go with this, it's actually a halfling windmill but the Quar aesthetic isn't THAT far from the hobbit aesthetic, so I thought it would fit. I'll post it too once I've got the set together.

Just printed: Tollyn Maeryn Torwyth Assault Tractor

One of May's designs from Mr. Quar! I love the writeups of the Tollyn Maeryn, a home guard making do with whatever hasn't gone to the front already. The idea that we've basically got a "Dad's Army" to built and collect is, like everything else about the quar, utterly charming.

Tollyn Maeryn Bicycle Dragoons

From Josh Qualtieri's Tribe on MyMiniFactory. I'm indescribably happy about these guys, the little fellow on his pennyfarthing with his basket of baguettes already helped draw me in to all things quar.

We joke about Peppa being the signing of the season but Squires made it canon.

Fackin' glorious.
