Question for parents with a TBI
Hey all. My wife and I are expecting a son in December and it’s got me thinking about how I’ll be parenting with a TBI. I have a question for those of you who have children, specifically, children who were born after your TBI:
When and how did you first mention it to them? How has your relationship gotten through it in your daily lives? (That turned out to be three questions, I apologize)
A little more info on what I’m dealing with; the two most noticeable things my TBI consists of are short-term memory loss (which makes daily appearances) and the entire right side of my body is weaker than my left due to hemiparesis, so I’ve had to accept, still can’t come to terms with, the fact that I’ll never really be able to do certain things with our boy, like playing catch, or possibly helping him ride a bike, if he’s interested. You know, things like that.
Like all parents, I just want to be able to give him the absolute best I can. Thank you for reading!
