Center Channel Speaker to Pair with Klipsch RP ii?
TDLR: what is a good center to pair with Klipsch RP ii, especially if I'm concerned with a narrow sweet spot. Budget ideally under $1,000.
I just installed a 4.1.4 system which consists of Klipsch RP-8000fiis, and RP-600miis (and 4 JBL control 65 pendants, Hsu Vtf2 mk5 sub, and Yamaha a6a). Due to the size and placement of the 98" TV, I started off with a phantom center, and I've been generally pleasantly surprised and impressed, and might keep the phantom, but I'm thinking I want to get an actual center to give me independent control of the center channel, better delineation of the center channel from l/r, and to expand the sweet spot, especially for when we have guests over.
The primary seating is 12 feet back on a 7 foot wide couch, with other seating a bit closer and to the side. I was surprised to find tests showing all of the Klipsch RP ii centers (500c, 404c, and 504c) have a narrow to very narrow sweet spot). After doing more research I'm considering a 3 way speaker, but concerned with tone matching the Klipsch.
Would Kef Q6 Meta or R2 Meta meld well or well enough with my system? Are the narrow test results of the Klipsch centers not that big of a deal in real world use and I'll be happy with the RP404cii?
What do you think?
