Windows Deck First Time Tips?

I'm currently installing Windows 11 on my LCD Deck.

I'm using the Windows drivers provided by Steam, with the exception that I will use the OLED APU driver based on some feedback I've found in this sub-reddit.

What's the first things I should do after Windows is installed? Use Handheld Companion? Any other recommended software to make the experience a good one?

I've been researching guides and videos, but some of those are older and I know things change all the time, new software, new methods, new recommendations that replace older recommendations, etc...

So, just having Windows installed, what is a must have? I think I need to research and apply changes to BIOS someone recommended for memory, etc.

I downloaded Mass Effect Legendary Edition It's the Fairlight cracked version. I can't get it to run on Steam Deck. I've tried several Proton versions, and Proton-GE, on both the launcher and the direct exe for ME1. I installed the bundled runtimes for directx and visual runtime. I click "Play" and nothing happens. Can someone offer any suggestions to get this to run. Thank you!
