What do you think of this opinion?
Found on the classic literature subreddit, thought that it contrasts quite harshly with the preferences of the general population when consuming media with "the worst thing a media can be is boring" and so on
I really, REALLY hated the library scene
I already know everyone's gonna come and say that both Tenma and Nina simply didn't have the mental fortitude to kill Johan and I AGREE. I have no problems with him not being straight up killed there. However, WHY TF DIDN'T THEY AT LEAST IMMOBILIZE HIM? They could've just shot him in the leg, kidnapped him and later figured what to do with him. Why couldn't they at least stop him from escaping? So many lives would be saved!
What are some feature changes that could make the game more historical and better at the same time?
Some of my recommendations are:
- Artillery buff: Artillery should be made 0 width and be made to take little damage from frontline troops. Instead they should only be able to be damaged by the other side's artillery and air power. This would greatly increase its and airplanes's importance while also decreasing the number and quality of troops that can be fielded, thus decreasing the frequency of getting stuck due to dozens of troops per tile. It'd also rejuvinate the meta with variety since countries could no longer afford to field tens of thousands of heavy tank destroyers by the start of the war lest artillery bombs their armies to death from a distance.
2)Make reliability actually matter. Right now except for a few terrains, reliabitlity is a stat that can for the most part be straight up ignored. Maintanance companies should be buffed and reliability should also be factored into battles and movement to a higher extent. Having super low reliability equipment should eat through your industry.
Why is the Iran region so weak?
So since I started playing, I'd mostly been playing in iran as the injuids (remember, the strongest looking nation in the area)to form persia. What I kept seeing was that my games... just didn't seem to take off. Ofc a lot of the time it'd be due to me learning new mechanics and restarting but a lot of the time I just felt like I was stupid, or missing something.
That was of course, until I played Muscovy. I was able to actually PLAY the game. I finally had the economy to fund an army and the sliders, my roads would actually work and increase control throughout the country.
Like what am I missing here? What made iran such a terrible region to play? I can't put my finger on it.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't sure Iran as a region way more advanced than Russia in the 13 and 1400s? Would it be historically more accurate to add population and wealth to that region?
What if WW1 Germany tried what they did in WW2 in the Western front using horses instead?
Would it work? Or were horses too slow/ few in number/ weak by that point?
Would this setup keep one comfortable in a hot enviroment?
Basically, I'm imagining being in a hot enviroment and using cheap materials to minimise body temp. Here's what I came up with:
A parasol/umbrella covered with material that can reflect the maximum amount of visble and IR radiation from the sun, like silver. Meanwhile, your body is lightly clothed in copper-infused clothes (high termal conductivity) and are covered with materials of the highest emmisivity like black paint, to maximise loss of body heat.
Would this work?
Plot Armour in Blood Meridian?
So I'm reading Blood Meridian as my first book ever (probably not a good decision but oh well), and I feel like I've found two instances of plot armour after having read the first three chapters(till page 50).
>By now men were piling through the doorway, bleeding,
covered in mud, cursing. They gathered about the judge. A posse was being
drawn to pursue the preacher.
>Judge, how did you come to have the goods on that no-account?
>
Goods? said the judge.
>
When was you in Fort Smith?
>
Fort Smith?
>
Where did you know him to know all that stuff on him?
>
You mean the Reverend Green?
>
Yessir. I reckon you was in Fort Smith fore ye come out here.
>
I was never in Fort Smith in my life. Doubt that he was.
>
They looked from one to the other.
>Well where was it you run up on him?
>
I never laid eyes on the man before today. Never even heard of him.
>
He raised his glass and drank.
>
There was a strange silence in the room. The men looked like mud
effigies. Finally someone began to laugh. Then another. Soon they were all
laughing together.
So just a bit before this, we saw complete chaos break out and people shooting at the priest because of accusations by some stranger who had just entered the tent, yet now apparently no one even has a problem with him, someone who just straight up confessed to having gotten several innocent people killed (and keep in mind that a bunch of people in the hotel are also injured due to him). I do know that the judge is supposed to be kinda supernatural so idk if mind control is an ability of his that'll be revealed later, otherwise this seems to be a heavy dose of plot armour in a supposedly "realistic" book.
>The kid crouched lightly with the bottles and feinted and then broke the right one over the man's head. Blood and liquor sprayed and the man's knees buckled and his eyes rolled. The kid had already let go the bottleneck and he pitched the second bottle into his right hand in a roadagent's pass before it even reached the floor and he backhanded the second bottle across the barman's skull and crammed the jagged remnant into his eye as he went down.
>The kid looked around the room. Some of those men wore pistols in their belts but none moved. The kid vaulted the bar and took another bottle and tucked it under his arm and walked out the door. The dog was gone. The man on the bench was gone too. He untied the mule and led it across the square.
So... a kid from the country that just conquered the territory in which these people live in just walks into the bar, speaks in english which none of them know, demands free drinks, and then KILLS one of them for not getting it, and I'm supposed to believe that none of them shoot him because...? Are we just supposed to believe that those Mexican guys were just saints too kind hearted to kill a kid or what? In a book filled with murderers? Again, did I miss something or what?
I do ask these in good faith and I'd be really happy if someone could explain if I've misread missed anything. But if there isn't, then that'd be pretty sad cause I really don't like plot armour.
What if everything went perfect for the Axis?
1)Germany switches to full War Economy in Sep 39 instead of waiting till 43.
2)The Germans do not engage in the Battle of Britain or the Atlantic in order to stock up on oil, instead focusing on building AA and defending, letting their planes have a home field advantage instead of the opposite.
Mussolini is more competent and is able to finish off Greece without needing German intervention in the Balkans. Yugoslavia isn't invaded. Saves 100k+ troops spent in occupation.
Finland fully joins the Axis, causing leningrad to fall. At least several tens of thousands of troops are freed.
Phillipines is sold to Japan by Spain in 1894, thus Japan does not need to attack the US to get at the European colonies, nor does Germany.
Bonus Hypothetical: Operation Typhoon also drives at the caucuses instead of into Moscow
Real life Earth VS the Rumbling(no holding back)
Eren will not be holding back in this scenario, he will use the full arsenal of powers that the Founder possesses, unlike in the story. He can for example hide anywhere in the world using his crystal cocoon ability, harden the already durable wall titans, show super sonic reaction speeds like he did when he absorbed zeke right after getting the Founder's power etc etc.

Are ancient debris spawn rates nerfed?
So I just went to the nether and used up like 40 beds but didn't find a single ancient debris. I might be a bit rusty at mining for netherite, but I do NOT remember it being this rare. Does the server decrease its spawn rates or am I just unlucky, or have mojang themselves changed ancient debris rarity?
