Ninja 300 major mechanical failure?
I currently ride a 2013 Ninja 300 ABS, which decided it was it's time today.
Freeway riding today (albeit spirited) - after letting off the throttle and letting revs come down, I noticed a severe drop in power and engine braking. A slight ticking noise started, which turned into full blown knocking and rattling.
Pulled off to the side, and while idling in neutral the bike sat at 900~ RPM before cutting out. I rode it around and off the freeway where it wouldnt clear 50kmh regardless of gear and rpm. The oil looked low in the sight glass - which was topped up with 10w-40.
From there it refused to crank, pressing starter would cause the whole bike to turn off and turn back on without cranking - making a high pitch chirp each time. Trailered it home to have a look. I attempted to force the bike forward while in 1st and only had the tire drag.
Drained all the oil, removed the clutch plate cover and inspected the inside - relatively clean. Just very dark oil. After letting the oil drain out of the pan it landed in, I noticed what looks like metallic flecks/shavings.
How dire of a repair would this be for a bike worth only $2000 if that.
TL;DR 2013 Ninja 300 - Grinding noise after spirited riding/under load - failure to keep idle/rpm while static. Topped up oil - no crank (either electrical or mechanical). wheel has extreme resistance in gear on road/on stand. Possibility of metallic shavings found in drained oil. How cooked am I?
