Accidentally “tipped” additional $100 on restaurant merchant copy last night. Can I call restaurant to fix this?
Hey all. I go to this restaurant near my house pretty often, like once a week, know the bartenders, etc. I usually eat at the bar with myself or my partner. Last night it was us and some friends. When signing our check I guess I was trying to do too much math for the addition. I thought the total was going to be $1xx so I wrote a 1 on the Total line but it actually came out to $97. But I had still written the 1 so the total was written as $197.
I have a habit of taking pictures of any paper versions of tip receipts so I looked back at my pictures for the night and noticed my big f up. I don’t think this has ever happened to me before tonight. If I call the restaurant when they open tomorrow, is this something they can reverse? Do I need to physically go to the restaurant to correct? I feel like they could see what I meant to do if they add the subtotal and tip, but if they’re just quickly entering totals into some machine maybe they’d miss it.
Do I call my credit card company and try to explain? It is totally my own f up that I totaled incorrectly. But do I just eat the extra $100 and hope I get extra taken care of by the restaurant servers from here on now? Thanks in advance.
