2026 FAQ MEGATHREAD (Read before posting please!!!)

This is going to be our 2nd year doing this, and I think it streamlined things much better last year. Some of these questions are already beginning to pop up...so in an effort to get ahead of the madness, we thought it pertinent to get this up now. If you have further inquiries on these topics that you don't feel adequately fleshed out within the "A" section, then ask here and we will answer for you.

Below is a list of questions (with answers) that get asked here repeatedly - please read through as this may answer the inquiry you might have as to HHN. If you start a new thread asking one of the questions below, we will delete it and refer you to this thread. We also strongly encourage you to read the r/HHN Rules on the side as well as the full location-specific FAQs as they will give you a much more in depth & detailed breakdown of everything HHN:

Orlando – https://www.reddit.com/r/HHN/wiki/faq/orlando-faq/

Hollywood – https://www.reddit.com/r/HHN/wiki/faq/hollywood-faq/

* NOTE: This will also serve as a Megathread - if there is a question about HHN that you want answered that you don't see here, please ask in this thread. If enough people ask the same question, we will edit it and add it to the questions below. Thank you...

Q: “WILL IT BE BUSY THE NIGHT I AM ATTENDING?”

A: Most likely, yes. We can’t accurately predict crowd levels on any specific night. Most nights are VERY crowded. Saturdays tend to be the busiest, the rest are a crapshoot. Some nights end up being less crowded. If you happen to go on a less crowded night, consider yourself very fortunate and enjoy the hell out of it. But we don’t know it beforehand. If you want to track wait times and look at historical posted wait times (whether it be specific days of the week or specific dates), you can do so here: https://www.thrill-data.com/hhn/orlando/2025 - but we here will never know if a specific night will be crowded or not.

Q: “SHOULD I GET AN EXPRESS PASS THE NIGHT I AM ATTENDING?”

A: It’s up to you. Express passes do cut down the wait time for the houses, but they are very expensive. If having access to the shorter Express lines is worth the high cost of an Express pass, then get it. If it isn’t, then don’t.

Q: “I AM GOING ON XX NIGHT, DOES ANYONE WANT TO MEET-UP?”

A: This isn’t Tinder. While we understand that many of you are posting this with harmless intent, there are those with a more insidious agenda – so we don’t allow these posts at all here. If you actually want to facilitate a meet up, go to our HHN Discord site (https://discord.com/invite/hhn) which has a “meetups” channel for both Orlando and Hollywood.

Q: “HOW SCARY IS HHN? – I DON’T LIKE SCARY THINGS BUT WANT TO GO TO THE EVENT”

A: That’s an entirely subjective question and every answer will be different. The event is full of jump scares, creepy moods, loud noises, and dark spaces. If you can’t handle scary things like this, then you’ll probably have a bad time if you go. There is no way to “avoid the scares” – they are everywhere. The actors aren't allowed to touch you though, so it's far from being an "extreme" haunt.

Q: “CAN I BRING MY YOUNG CHILD TO THE EVENT?”

A: Technically, yes. But it’s a bad idea. Even a child who enjoys “all things horror” is unlikely to be prepared for the immersive experience HHN provides – it’s sensory overload – it’s nothing like just watching a horror movie. And the scareactors will absolutely 100% target that child – both in scarezones and houses – as their job is to target the people who are most likely to elicit a response. We highly advise against it!

Q: “CAN I WEAR THIS COSTUME TO THE EVENT?”

A: Patrons are not allowed to wear costumes at the Orlando event. The rules are much more lax at the Hollywood event, so as long as you’re not impersonating a scareactor, then you’re probably good in Hollywood. But, in Orlando, if you have to ask this question, then the answer is probably NO. There is a good chance you’ll get turned away at the gate if you try to walk that line. We can’t definitively answer that question for you, but this falls a bit under the FAFO rule – so we strongly suggest you err on the side of caution because it’s not worth being stopped at the gate and missing the event. If you do decide to tempt fate, we suggest having a back up plan (e.g., make up remover, a different shirt/shorts in the car, etc.) as a fall back option.

Q: “TIPS FOR HHN?”

A: Here are some things we recommend (especially for Florida)…Wear Comfortable Shoes. Hydrate well both before and during the event (you can bring water inside). Get there early and stay to close (the least crowded times). Wear Neck Fans in September if the heat is an issue. Wear Ear plugs if you have issues with loud noises. Bring ponchos for the inevitable rain. If you’re on your phone a lot, bring a power brick.

Q: “DOES WEATHER EFFECT THE EVENT? WILL IT RAIN? (Florida question)”

A: Rain will NOT shut down the event – even if it pours. Hurricanes MAY cancel the event if the projected path puts people in danger. We won’t know until Universal announces it. Yes, hurricane season runs through the entire event; but we can never predict when or where a hurricane will hit outside of a day or two before. It's Florida, so there's ALWAYS a chance of rain - asking if it will rain or will a certain storm affect the event isn't something that can be answered accurately here.

Q: “CAN I CANCEL/CHANGE DATES OF MY TICKETS (Single, FFP, RIP, etc.)?”

A: Often, Universal is sympathetic to issues that arise - but we can't accurately predict if they will allow it. Always call Guest Services (Orlando: 407-224-4233 / Hollywood: 800-864-8377) and explain your situation to them. If you do not get an answer to your liking, try again - you will sometimes get different answers from different Team Members, so keep trying!

RIDDLE EXPLANATION...

First off, congrats to everyone who figured out the riddle last night. I kind of made a mistake in assuming everyone here knew this was a riddle - so I feel I owe an explanation of sorts as to how all this works for those new to this community this year (welcome to hell ;P)...

I caught wind Tuesday morning that there would be an announcement today, but I couldn't get it confirmed until late in the afternoon (hence the evening Alice in Wonderland "two days slow" post which pointed to a Thursday announcement), so that's why it was later in the day than usual...most of the time I will just post a riddle the day before, but since it was the first IP announcement of the season, I figured it would get everyone excited for the week.

As for the riddle last night...I will generally give these the day before an announcement (occasionally the morning of), often in the form of a story - I know it looks out of place on the board, and that is the sign that it is indeed a riddle. Up until yesterday, I was under the assumption that a different property would be announced today, and I had a full riddle ready to post (hence the 12 dots on the Alice In Wonderland post). But yesterday morning, I started getting info that it might not be that property and instead would be the one for which I posted the riddle (Sinners). I had made notes for a Sinners riddle, but hadn't put it all together - so, once I felt confident enough to shoot my shot, I rushed to piece it together and get it out early enough to give everyone time to partake in the fun. At the time of posting, I was 60/40 it would be Sinners. By this morning, it was more like 80/20 after more people had gotten back to me. Though I can't name them by name, (as always) I want to give my heartfelt thanks to those who provide me the information and/or confirmation that allows me to engage the community in this fashion!

As for not giving the answer to the riddle last night or this morning, let me explain that for those new here as well...during spec season (Jan-April), I will give clues as to RUMORS I'm hearing (some come to fruition and others fizzle out) and will eventually affirm when someone gets the correct answer and shows their work. But, for riddle announcements, I won't give the answer until AFTER it is officially announced. It's an ethical decision. Although I am not employed by Universal (and never have been), it IS their event, so I think it's a bit arrogant of me to announce it before they do. Of course, occasionally after a few beers I will reply to a person here or there in a thread divulging a little info (see the Terrifier announcement last year)...but I won't create a brand new post to announce something prematurely. Once the property is announced, I always give a couple of hours for everyone to digest the news before making a "riddle answers" post such as this one.

Now, for the answers to the riddle...thanks to everyone who participated, and major shoutouts to u/No_Explanation408 u/EAS_90 u/JDLovesElliot (loved Scrubs!) u/martian-k and u/Sirens_Fandoms928 for your excellent sleuthing!!!

[[What a disaster these past couple of days have been. So, my wife gets an idea in her head that she wants to remodel the kitchen because ours looks extremely old and run-down. So, we start by packing up all the dishes, glasses, pots, pans, and utensils, which took over 2 hours - and, to be able to maneuver around the house, we had to stack the boxes of goods as high as the eyes could see.

Our friend who does this for a living shows up early in the evening - so I invite him in and hand him a glass of wine before I show him everything she wanted done. He looked it all over and quickly gave me a list of items to grab at the local hardware store before it closed. So, I started racing up the road, but got stuck at the railroad tracks for what felt like an eternity before reaching my destination and grabbing the items listed.

By the time I got home, it was dusk (shortly after 7:30), and I was starving. Luckily, my wife had cooked us all some food while I was away - so I brought the materials into the house, and quickly chowed down on the mound of food I piled on my plate before getting to work with my friend.

We worked late until the evening, got up at dawn, and started really grinding on the project. By late-afternoon, we had a completely revamped kitchen! However, when my wife got home from her day out with friends, she took one look and said we built everything backwards!!! I was already exhausted from all the work we put in, and that realization had me instantly seeing red, so I stormed out of the house without saying a word.

I drove down to the water's edge and sat on a bench overlooking the river. I just zoned out there basking in the moonlight with this overwhelming feeling that I can't win for losing no matter what I do.

Eventually, we corrected the error and everything was fine, but man those couple of days were very strange and exhausting!]]

Announcement reminder and note...

First off, one final reminder that when this gets officially announced, please let the mods post and pin it. There is even a slight chance that Universal themselves will post it on here and, if they do, I'll remove the mod post and pin Universal's post on it.

As for the answer(s) to the riddle - those will get posted later this afternoon a few hours after the announcement (this is my standard operating procedure and I'll get into why later today in that recap post). But, suffice it to say, it wasn't the most difficult riddle to suss out - and many of you did a fantastic job of finding the clues...so well done there.

Have a great day everybody...spec season is over and announcement season is about to begin!

A KITCHEN REMODEL NIGHTMARE...

What a disaster these past couple of days have been. So, my wife gets an idea in her head that she wants to remodel the kitchen because ours looks extremely old and run-down. ...so we have gotten pretty good at this the past couple of years but, as is the case every year, we have a bunch of new people who have joined so we need to send out PSAs. The regulars here know what I'm about to type. In order to avoid an influx of the same post, when it comes to OFFICIAL HHN announcements, I or one of the other mods will post and pin it. Otherwise, we get 10 of the same post with people arguing over who posted it first and why their post was deleted. We do this on the Discord as well. Overall, we're pretty lax over here compared to a lot of Reddit channels, but this is one of the things we ask to avoid chaos.

Now, there might be a "leak" on a site from another country or something at some point - we aren't posting that - we're talking strictly about the "official" announcements (most of the time from the HHN Twitter sites, but sometimes from their YT channel).

YES, there is chatter about an announcement relatively soon, which is why I'm posting (and pinning) this now. So, if you do post it and it gets removed, please don't complain about it because this is the forewarning. You won't get in trouble if you do - it will just be a removal. Yes, this will happen even if you post it before a moderator does. I hope this is clear. Everyone have a great day and weekend...the fireworks are coming soon!!!

PS - Yes, I essentially copied and pasted this from a past PSA reminder which can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/HHN/comments/1bui2to/reminder_post_for_upcoming_announcements/
