How do I fix my concrete steps?

Previous owner's repairs are coming apart after about 10 years. It didn't have a terrible run to be honest. At this point, it can't get much worse, so I've taken it upon myself to just DIY and see what I can do. The inside of the steps are hollow - the walls are about 1-1 1/2" thick.

Previous owner repaired it with what looks to be steel mesh and covered the bottom edges of the step in concrete. I can try to match that or try something else. Any ideas or advice?
