Winchester-Lee Navy Model 1895 Sling

I’ve made about 25 of these so far… comparing my latest to the schematic found in the 1895 Lee Navy manual, I reckon I’m getting pretty okay at making these by now.

These aren’t moving as fast as my US Army Mosin sling pattern replicas but I like to build the Winchester pattern slings a little bit more than I do the Mosin ones.

Found the dumbest one I’ve dealt with yet…

“I am an FLL holder…”

What gravitas.

US Army 1891 Mosin Nagant Sling Replicas Progress:

These are in reverse chronological order. I’ve source blanks which are long enough to be the accurate length and I’m pretty satisfied with the latest result.

A number of people have given me satisfactory feedback about the earlier versions I made working up to this standard, which I handed off to a couple of my more Mosin-y collector friends for them to trial. The only real improvements really have been cosmetic and in my own streamlined order of operations in the fabricating.

On the basis of this never feeling too much like work, I’m knocking these out at about the length and general aesthetic you see here so I always have one or two ready to ship if somebody wants one.

Japanning: My Latest Step Forward

I've successfully japanned my sling hooks and keepers. Pretty psyched about how it turned out.

I wonder who got taken by this…

Col. Frank J. Atwood was not CO of the Ordnance District until a year or two after this ultra rare variant would’ve been receipt inspected.

Tried buying an M10 Cleaning Set for my Butt (hehe) Trap

God bless the little hearts of all these pro 2A types who self simulate their very own evil gun laws because MOLON LABE is a giant window sticker that’s ancient spartan for “scaredy-cats comply in advance.”

Anyways does anybody here know a good source for all of these items as a kit that somebody who’s not kneecapping their own business just for their right winger identity? (They were supposedly USGI and not Chinese repop is why I didn’t just instant buy some $25 listing.)

Sir, another “Rare Conversion WW2 Chinese” M1917 has hit gunbroker…

God damn this is too good to be true. These China-Burma-India 1917’s seem not as rare as one would’ve thought…
