Private Equity Buying Up Veterinary Clinics
I was listening to a PBS Newshour story about private equity firms buying out veterinarians' practices then raising prices, cutting staff, worsening care, and reducing competition.
The reporting included the story of a guy whose dachshund died after a private equity-owned vet missed his dog's internal bleeding because of a lack of continuity of care - and charged him $13,000 - so he started Private Equity Vet to track which clinics had sold out and to which investors.
The picture above is a map of private equity vets around the Littleton area - you can go to the site to learn more and get details about each vet.
