CIR Masters for Academia?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the International relations masters program. I am looking to apply to PhD programs in political science after I complete a masters, and so I was wondering how 1. the program prepares people for doctoral studies, and 2. how well the program places into PhD programs? Any information regarding this would be helpful. Thank you!

Math Side Quests!!!

Hello! Im looking for optional math classes to take that would still be helpful for a future in academia! I'm in political science and want to do political economy (which I know is fake econ...my bad). Im done with my poli sci degree really early so I added a math major for fun while I get more research expirience. I have taken all the main courses (i.e. linear, proofs, math stats, real analysis, probability, discrete) and now just need math electives. My math department offers topology, combinatorics, scientific computing, numerical analysis, group theory, ecological modeling, NP completeness, and advanced geometry, ring theory, and number theory. Any info is helpful. Thanks!

Econ Masters for Academia

Hello!

So I am interested in trying to get into academia for political economy (in a political science department for my PhD), and will be applying for that in the next next cycle, and was looking into masters programs for if I don't get admitted anywhere and was wondering if there were any good economics masters programs for getting into academia, id go to the political science one's...but they either dont exist at top institutions or are hot doo doo from what my PI's have told me (except for duke but to afford that Id have to sell all my organs). I have 100k in savings because I've been saving for a long time and dont particularly want to go into (too much) debt for a masters.

Additionally, what econ courses would I need to take to get in, Ive seen them say that I need to take to the "intermediate level" but I have no idea what that means. Im not concerned about math coursework, as im a double major in math and have taken real analysis, linear algebra, mathematical stats, probability, etc.

Sorry if this is an obvious question, I just don't know what the masters scene looks like for econ. Thanks!
