Before and After: Powder Room + Small Bedroom into an en-suite bathroom

We bought our house in the pandemic but at just under 1120 sq ft, we were quickly outgrowing it. Instead of moving and giving up that sweet interest rate, we saved and did a remodel + addition to give us exactly what we needed. We went from a very small 3 bed, 1.5 bath to a much more comfortable 3 bed 2 bath. Square footage is somewhere around 1350 or so now.

We turned the way too small 3rd bedroom/office into an en-suite bathroom and added a master in the back.

Im super proud of how we utilized the space. The closet in pic 4 is the space behind the toilet in pic 8. Our fireplace is in the center of the house so we needed to be creative but we even managed to add a washer and dryer closet and a linen closet in the hallway.

Since this is the bathroom remodeling sub, I want to focus on my fave part of the remodel, the bathroom!

Shower tile: Fireclay custom Cerulean Blue, 2x8 (killer factory sale find!)

Shower floor: Bedrosians Marin 2x2 in Misty Blue

Bathroom floor: Zia 24x24 terrazzo in Andromeda

Vanity: Signature Hardware, swapped out the handles
Hardware: Newport Brass

I agonized over this remodel for months. The construction was an annoying 5+ months but I’m so happy to be done. We have everything we need to live here forever now!

Update: We now have drywall!

I got absolutely flamed on my last post that was showing off the tile work the contractors just finished because the drywall wasn’t in yet. My GC said tile before drywall is something they normally do, but according to Reddit, they’re committing a cardinal sin.

We are waiting for a part for the drain to come in, so they moved onto drywall today. Sure, the order might be weird, but I have to say, things look pretty good.

I’m curious how they’ll finish off where the tile, schluter and drywall meet in pic 2, and where the ceiling meets the tile in pic 3.

I got a lot of shitty comments but I am thankful to the pros who offered me some good perspectives and things to watch out for. Can’t wait to hear what the professionals would do in this case!

After this, I’ll refrain from posting pics until the final result, but thought i should let you guys know we have drywall now haha

I couldn’t wait to post.

I’ve been in this sub for like a year now, mulling over tile choices for my remodel. We finally started tile this week and my Zia terrazzo and Fireclay subway tile choice is finally coming together in the same room, and god damn I’m too excited to wait for them to finish!

Will post final photos soon, but I’m thrilled with the vertical offset and the color and the little speckles in the terrazzo and I’m so so happy I decided to find the perfect blue tile instead of the safe white I almost went for!
