David Leland Tracy

44-year-old David Leland Tracy was found murdered in Creek County, Oklahoma on August 16th, 1988. His case remains open and unsolved. It's being investigated by the OSBI.

David, pictured here at age 16, was on his way to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he worked, from Springfield, Missouri, where he lived, when he was murdered. He was a locomotive foreman for Burlington-Northern Railroad and often worked at the Tulsa Cherokee Switchyards. He'd been paid the day before and had $800 on him. When David's body was found his wallet was missing and his pockets were turned inside out.

A trucker found David's body at a rest stop along the Turner Turnpike at about 8 pm, near the Bristow exit, about 5 miles west of the exit. His vehicle was later found outside of Houston, Texas in an ocean passageway. Cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the face with a small caliber weapon.

Two hitchhikers reported that they were given a ride by a suspicious man in a blue, 4-door 1964 Plymouth with license plate # ZY1110. He was acting in a strange way and they saw what they believed was blood on his clothing. They had the man drop them off at the McDonald's 22 miles west of Stroud, Oklahoma where they called Oklahoma Highway Patrol at 8:30 pm. There is no public information on whether police found the man or the vehicle. The pair described the man as a 25 year old white man with wavy, brown shoulder-length hair and wearing a leather headband. He's believed to be 6'0 and 220 lbs. A suspect from Lafayette, Louisiana was found that matched the description but the witnesses were unable to ID him in a lineup.

David Leland Tracy was born January 12th, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to Leland George Tracy and Georgella Williams, now both deceased. He attended Hillcrest High School in Springfield. David was married with three children at the time of his murder.

Please call the OSBI at 800-522-8017 with any information in the senseless murder of father David Leland Tracy. You can remain anonymous.

Charlotte Kinsey and Cinda Pallett

13 -year-old friends, Charlotte Kinsey and Cinda Pallett are Missing Oklahomans.

-They went missing from the Oklahoma State Fair on September 26th, 1981.
-During the afternoon, Charlotte contacted her mother, saying she and Cinda had gotten jobs helping a fair employee unloading a truck filled with toys.
-The girls planned to spend the night at Cinda's house.
-Both girls were told by their parents to call at 9 PM to get a ride home, but those calls never happened.

-Officers searched the fairgrounds, family members and volunteers distributed flyers and a police task force was formed.
-A composite sketch was made of a man who drove a 1980-81 Pontiac Grand Prix with South Dakota plates.
-Several kids said the man offered them a job for 5 dollars and hour, including two teenage boys who were in the car's backseat with Charlotte and Cinda.

-The story is, the two boys and the two girls were taken to a truck stop off Interstate 40 to see the toy truck but it wasn’t there, so the man dropped off the boys, gave them $10 and drove away with the girls.

-Police arrested one fair employee, but he had an alibi and was released.

-They charged a second man with kidnapping, who worked at the fair, who had arrived a day before the girls vanished and was identified by the boys and he’d rented Grand Prix.

-Long hairs were discovered in his Wyoming home, possibly linked to Cinda but test results were inconclusive.
-Potential blood stains in the Grand Prix were inconclusive as well so those charges were dismissed, although he remains the primary suspect.

-Anyone with information about their case, should contact OKC Police at (405) 297‑112.

Lurleen Lynette Short Warden

Lurleen Lynette Short Warden was found murdered October 6th, 1988 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to the Tulsa Cold Case website her case remains open and unsolved.

That day Lurleen was out in the garden when it is theorized by detectives that she entered her home and interrupted a burglary. Her home was ransacked and several pieces of her property were missing. Lurleen was found deceased in the master bedroom of her home, located at 2690 Terwilleger Blvd, around 9:30 am. Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head. Her car was later found, at 10:05 pm, at North Garrison Pl, near the Morning Star Village Apartments. Neighbors who watched the news recognized the plate number and called detectives, saying the car had been there several days. When her vehicle was found the hubcaps and the left front tire were missing. Lurleen had told a friend that a man had called earlier that week asking if the "gentleman of the house" was home.

Detectives soon named a suspect - 41-year-old James Martin Pack. James had a history of burglarizing and beating elderly people, with a criminal record going back the the 1970s. The same day Lurleen was found murdered James was arrested for his involvement in a different burglary and murder. While those charges were later dismissed, James was arrested and charged for several other burglaries and sentenced to 95 years in prison. However, there has never been enough evidence to connect James to the murder of Lurleen despite the fact that James was found with several pieces of Lurleen's property.

Lurleen Lynette Short was born September 21st, 1910 in Palestine, Anderson County, Texas, to Edward Harbison Short and Clara Mable Short. She went on to attend the University of Oklahoma in the early 1930s (first photo) and become a respected real estate agent. At the time of her murder Lurleen was still working part-time. She later married Frederick Morrell Warden on November 9th, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had two children together - Lawrence and Dianne. Frederick passed away in 1965 and Lawrence passed away in 1985. Lurleen lived alone when the murder occurred.

Ronnie O’Dell Davis

Ronnie O’Dell Davis went missing from Choctaw County on August 24,1977. He was 24 years old.

On the day he was last seen, Ronnie is said to have left his job with the Weyerhaeuser company and was heading to tend to his horses. The corral where he kept his horses was approximately three miles from where his home was.

There is a witness account that states the witness saw Ronnie at the corral, that they saw him jump into the back of his 1975 pickup while two other unknown men stood by. One of the men was smiling and holding a rifle. The witness also stated there was a blue and white Buick with Texas plates parked nearby. Neither Ronnie nor his 1975 Ford pickup have ever been found.

After Ronnie did not return home, his father and uncle went out to the corral to check on things. They apparently found an area in the tall grass that looked as if one or two people had been sitting there for a long while. There were cigarette butts and gum wrappers all around the area. Ronnie’s brother has stated that he believes he knows who was likely involved with the disappearance of his brother, and that the family believes Ronnie was mistakenly thought to have been involved with the drug trade by whomever he met with that day.

Edna Pearl Curtis Higgs

Edna Pearl Curtis Higgs, 61, was working at her Springdale Wine & Liquor store located in a shopping center at 1626 N. Sheridan in Tulsa, Oklahoma when she was murdered during an armed robbery at 2:30pm on September 24th, 1985. Edna was shot 3 times in the chest. Edna was a co-owner of the store with her husband Cletis Dewey Higgs, Jr and ran the store with their daughter Judy Wheeler. This wasn't the first robbery they had to deal with - in 1965 Cletis was grievously harmed when two armed robbers shot him in the chest for $200. It was their first year owning the store. The picture attached with this story is of Edna watching as Cletis was taken to the ambulance in the 1965 robbery.

A witness saw two men walk up to the store and it's believed one man, described as a short black man, possibly with a beard, went into the store pretending to be a customer. The man left behind was a white man. It's believed Edna had a .38 pistol to defend herself, however, it's unknown if it was used. The killer took the gun with him, as well as $200 and some personal items of Edna's. Edna was shot three times in the chest with a .22. The killer was seen running in the 1600 block of North Zunis Avenue.

Ten detectives were assigned to Edna's case and they questioned close to 500 people. To this day no one has been charged in Edna's murder.

Please call the Tulsa Crime Stoppers at (918) 596-COPS with any information on the murder of mother and local store owner Edna Higgs.

Shavonda Kay Ingle

Shavonda Kay Ingle went missing from the Lawton, Oklahoma area around Christmas Day 1996. She was 29 years old.

While there isn't a lot of public information regarding Shavonda's disappearance and subsequent murder, what is known is that about two weeks after she had gone missing her body was found in an abandoned trailer in Geronimo, Oklahoma. By the time she was found, she was only able to be identified by her butterfly tattoo.

While she isn't necessarily considered to be connected to the many cases of murdered women in the Lawton area from around the same time frame- I do not believe Shavonda's murder should be discounted as related to the serial killings in Lawton. While she was found fully clothed, Shavonda's case is eerily similar in most ways as the other women killed.

Not only did she likely know Barbara Berry, but Shavonda lived a life that was troubled. Which is probably why we haven't seen much about Shavonda in the media.

There are accounts of neighboring properties hearing screams from the area where Shavonda was found that were never followed up on properly, as well as a report of a taxi cab leaving the area in which she was found. One of the prime theories with the Lawton serial killings of the late 90s is that the girls were picked up by the killer who was a taxi cab driver. It is a theory that has some merit. Cause of death for Shavonda is one gunshot to the head.

In any event, Shavonda's family is still seeking answers for her murder almost 30 years later. No one has been held accountable for her disappearance and killing. It"s time for her killer to be brought to justice.

If you have any information regarding the murder of Shavonda Kay Ingle, please contact the Comanche County Sheriff's Office at (580) 353-4280.

Jimmy (or Jimmie) Ray Shoemake, Jr.

Jimmy (or Jimmie) Ray Shoemake, Jr., pictured here at age 6, was 12 when he disappeared in August of 1982 from the Indian Expo in Anadarko, Oklahoma. His body was found 8 months later along the railroad tracks. His case is open and unsolved.

When Jimmy disappeared the 12-year-old was considered a runaway by law enforcement, some of whom did not take the case seriously. A few acquaintances and extended family members among the community even believed Jimmy had run away to join the circus. His close family knew something was wrong.

On April 30th, 1983, a train engineer spotted some human skeletal remains on the northeast outskirts of Anadarko. Dental records confirmed that the remains were those of 12-year-old Jimmy Shoemake. He was wearing the clothing he was last seen it and his remains had been scattered by animal activity. Cause of death was impossible to determine due to the state of the remains.

Jimmy, who was Native, attended kindergarten in the Chouteau, Oklahoma area. Little else is known about his life. Anadarko PD confirmed the case is still unsolved but there's been little investigative activity in the case.
