David Leland Tracy

44-year-old David Leland Tracy was found murdered in Creek County, Oklahoma on August 16th, 1988. His case remains open and unsolved. It's being investigated by the OSBI.

David, pictured here at age 16, was on his way to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he worked, from Springfield, Missouri, where he lived, when he was murdered. He was a locomotive foreman for Burlington-Northern Railroad and often worked at the Tulsa Cherokee Switchyards. He'd been paid the day before and had $800 on him. When David's body was found his wallet was missing and his pockets were turned inside out.

A trucker found David's body at a rest stop along the Turner Turnpike at about 8 pm, near the Bristow exit, about 5 miles west of the exit. His vehicle was later found outside of Houston, Texas in an ocean passageway. Cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the face with a small caliber weapon.

Two hitchhikers reported that they were given a ride by a suspicious man in a blue, 4-door 1964 Plymouth with license plate # ZY1110. He was acting in a strange way and they saw what they believed was blood on his clothing. They had the man drop them off at the McDonald's 22 miles west of Stroud, Oklahoma where they called Oklahoma Highway Patrol at 8:30 pm. There is no public information on whether police found the man or the vehicle. The pair described the man as a 25 year old white man with wavy, brown shoulder-length hair and wearing a leather headband. He's believed to be 6'0 and 220 lbs. A suspect from Lafayette, Louisiana was found that matched the description but the witnesses were unable to ID him in a lineup.

David Leland Tracy was born January 12th, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to Leland George Tracy and Georgella Williams, now both deceased. He attended Hillcrest High School in Springfield. David was married with three children at the time of his murder.

Please call the OSBI at 800-522-8017 with any information in the senseless murder of father David Leland Tracy. You can remain anonymous.

Lurleen Lynette Short Warden

Lurleen Lynette Short Warden was found murdered October 6th, 1988 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to the Tulsa Cold Case website her case remains open and unsolved.

That day Lurleen was out in the garden when it is theorized by detectives that she entered her home and interrupted a burglary. Her home was ransacked and several pieces of her property were missing. Lurleen was found deceased in the master bedroom of her home, located at 2690 Terwilleger Blvd, around 9:30 am. Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head. Her car was later found, at 10:05 pm, at North Garrison Pl, near the Morning Star Village Apartments. Neighbors who watched the news recognized the plate number and called detectives, saying the car had been there several days. When her vehicle was found the hubcaps and the left front tire were missing. Lurleen had told a friend that a man had called earlier that week asking if the "gentleman of the house" was home.

Detectives soon named a suspect - 41-year-old James Martin Pack. James had a history of burglarizing and beating elderly people, with a criminal record going back the the 1970s. The same day Lurleen was found murdered James was arrested for his involvement in a different burglary and murder. While those charges were later dismissed, James was arrested and charged for several other burglaries and sentenced to 95 years in prison. However, there has never been enough evidence to connect James to the murder of Lurleen despite the fact that James was found with several pieces of Lurleen's property.

Lurleen Lynette Short was born September 21st, 1910 in Palestine, Anderson County, Texas, to Edward Harbison Short and Clara Mable Short. She went on to attend the University of Oklahoma in the early 1930s (first photo) and become a respected real estate agent. At the time of her murder Lurleen was still working part-time. She later married Frederick Morrell Warden on November 9th, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had two children together - Lawrence and Dianne. Frederick passed away in 1965 and Lawrence passed away in 1985. Lurleen lived alone when the murder occurred.

If you have any information in the murder of 78-year-old Lurleen Lynette Short Warden please contact the Tulsa PD at 918-596-9222. All information is helpful.

Ronnie O’Dell Davis

Ronnie O’Dell Davis went missing from Choctaw County on August 24,1977. He was 24 years old.

On the day he was last seen, Ronnie is said to have left his job with the Weyerhaeuser company and was heading to tend to his horses. The corral where he kept his horses was approximately three miles from where his home was.

There is a witness account that states the witness saw Ronnie at the corral, that they saw him jump into the back of his 1975 pickup while two other unknown men stood by. One of the men was smiling and holding a rifle. The witness also stated there was a blue and white Buick with Texas plates parked nearby. Neither Ronnie nor his 1975 Ford pickup have ever been found.

After Ronnie did not return home, his father and uncle went out to the corral to check on things. They apparently found an area in the tall grass that looked as if one or two people had been sitting there for a long while. There were cigarette butts and gum wrappers all around the area. Ronnie’s brother has stated that he believes he knows who was likely involved with the disappearance of his brother, and that the family believes Ronnie was mistakenly thought to have been involved with the drug trade by whomever he met with that day.

If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Ronnie O’Dell Davis please contact the OSBI at 800-522-8017, referencing case # M77-288.
