My first kraken experience as a new player. Mun base destroyed. Why?
I’ve been playing heavy hours on this game for the past three days. I’ve played it before but recently this game just CLICKED. It CLICKED with me. And I’ve been making progress pretty quickly in my perspective. In a day I went from “Launch and land safely” to my first satellite. It was amazing seeing kerbin from space for the first time.. like genuine awe. And that was the closing moment. I got some mods and just kept learning
Since then I’ve done a lot.. but specially in talking about my Mun science Base. I made a basic base that could land itself and take off by itself. It’s just a command pod, a science base or whatever it’s called, and an air lock. And of course lander feet.. well. This thing is amazing. It holds Valentina and ‘Gilbin’ Kerman. It gives me a lot of science.. a LOT especially for my flow before this.
I play modded and saw a “Surface survey scanner” and thought “It would be amazing if I sent one up to the Mun and had it orbit over my base” so I did that. It took idk. Ten different launches to get to the Mun with this one which was already infuriating because I managed to do it first try with three different rockets before hand. Two satellites and the base. But once I finally got into orbit. I adjusted said orbit.. it was amazing. I sped up time until I was almost over my mun base. I extended the scanner. And selected my SAS to target “target” which I set to be the base. Imagine my RAGE AND CONFUSION. When after a few seconds I see “No target” and it go to basic SAS.. check the map. No marker. Check tracking station. Nothing. Wait to see if it just didn’t have any comms with the satellites so I waited for them to orbit over where it usually was. Not even a connection.
Check astronaut complex. Gilbin isn’t even there but Valentina is “Missing”…
I pause and google for a half hour.
Managed to get to an auto backup that was right before I launched that scanner.. everything was how it was supposed to be. But I genuinely almost broke my entire setup over it. Okay not really
So the point of this post is a rage vent. But also. IS THIS COMMON? MUST I JUST LIVE IN SAVE SCUM FEAR?
Or can I fix this?
Prevent it?
Or is it genuinely a gamble.
