Noob needs help

I want to set up a basic relay network, but I can't figure out if I haven't yet earned the tech to pull it off, or if I really just haven't wrapped my head around efficient design in rss. I have 1961 orbital rocketry with 1962 tech in the research pipeline. My Comm Tech is level 2, and my avionics is only unlocked to the first node that gives deep space probes. I'm trying to set up a 3 satellite network with a resonant orbit delivery system. The sum weight of all three satellites is just over a ton. I can barely squeeze 10k dV out of the craft I'm trying to build for this payload. I'm guessing I need at least 12k minimum to get to the orbit I need. Is this overambitious for the progress I've made, or do I need to rethink my entire design philosophy?

Edit: I forgot to mention that the delivery stage (the one carrying the payload, the one which will be establishing the resonant orbit) is about 9 tons, with around 3200 dV. That's the stage I need to get into LEO, so... another 9300-ish dV there? This is where I get into trouble designing this thing.

The first simulation of a rocket created to fly around the moon with a crew

I haven’t taken the program yet, but I’ve already started building a launch pad. The command and lander modules will be launched on two rockets and dock in lunar orbit

what causes the non upgradable buildings to visually upgrade?

such as the vab, launchpad, sph. they are ofc acting as if always fully upgraded, but what causes them to visually change level? i always liked the maxed out ksc look so i was wondering what triggers those buildings to upgrade

RP1, LEO relays

im rather new so far, and i regularly lose connection while in leo bc of not being over radio stations. im not super familiar with how real life comm networks function however, as far as my experience goes is playing reentry where of the 3 programs in the game, only mercury had to be concerned about specific station locations, so i assume it was resolved by the time of apollo and gemini. but unsure how

would relays be the answer? if so what antennas shud i use and how many sattelites would i need for good coverage? my comm tech is level 4 and my dsn is upgraded to level 3 for reference

Flat map for rp1?

Since scansat isnt compatible with rp1, is there another mod for visualizing trajectories on a flat map? the atmospherics and various icons makes it difficult to see well in the 3d map

OSO Probe - Earth

Evening everyone! Today between math modules I busted out a quick little contract launch to put our OSO Probe into a low>high polar orbit around Earth for solar wind measurements. I recently nuked my Sol install and redid it, except this time using RemoteTech and a bunch of different parts packs to freshen things up. and lemme tell you, things are feeling fresh. Enjoy!

Hey guys, is there any "good" mod that adds the Ariane V and it's compatible with RP-1/RO?

I've seen at least two in the Parts Browser (ESA Launchers and RealScaleBoosters) but they are outdated and idk if they will work on ksp 1.12

Some more screenshots of my mod.

going away on holiday tomorrow so development will be halted for a while, sorry.

Its working!! - KSP live Ortho streaming

been working on a mod for a couple days that streams real map data into KSP as the player flies, rather than the "one big texture" approach. it works, but is SUPER janky and needs a lot of tweaking and debugging. I've not tested any of this from space yet, I'm still get the mod to work at ground level. so far progress has been super promising, and I'm excited to hopefully have a release out soon. (all shots are from in game)

спутник 1 reaches orbit in September of 1955

A masterful feat of engineering aboard the Электрон спутник 1the first artificial satellite was launched. the sibling satellites of спутник 1 and the Электрон Влок-Б core stage are circling the earth almost exactly 2 years before the first satellite irl.

Rp-1 is lwky the best and most challenging game I have ever played and the amount of joy i find in overcoming these challenges is insane, when I first started I was very confused and overwhelmed but decided to stick with it and it payd off, even though I should probably try getting my time spent on ksp per week back below 20hrs lol. Thx btw to all the people that encouraged me to give this a try.

(I have more way better photos in the screenshot folder I can post them tomorrow)

Weird visual bug with the map and connection nodes in the vab [rss/ro]

Unoccupied connection nodes in the vab glow bright white, and rapidly flicker when moved [pic1]. Also if cape's icon is visible on the map screen, and the camera is relatively close, same thing is happening [2-5]. When i zoom out or look from a shallow angle, it looks more like a blue/yellow/green overlay (color depends on the angle) [6-7].
Does anybody has a slightest idea of what can be the root cause of this?

How to launch into the plane of the moon?

I’m currently trying to launch my first lunar flyby mission in my play through of RP-1, but I can’t seem to properly launch in the plane of the moon. I’ve tried using the Lunar Transfer Planner mod, but whenever I try launching 90 deg due east at a launch window, I never end up in the correct plane. Mechjeb ascent guidance fails as well. Any tips or help would be appreciated.

Built a proof-of-concept mod that streams real map tiles onto KSP terrain in real time — has anyone done this before?

Has anyone built or seen a mod that streams real map/satellite imagery onto KSP terrain in real time as you fly (not a static texture pack)? I've got a proof-of-concept working with OpenStreetMap tiles on a Sol/RSS Earth and I'm curious if there's prior work I should look at before going further, especially for proper per-tile UV placement instead of a single repeating texture.
