Course change

Long story short, I don’t want this to be a rant/vent but I kinda need genuine advice. So just in case I’m gonna spew everything out.

I’m a first year undergraduate student, fresh out of highschool and I’m already regretting my course choice (psychology). I’m just not liking it as I thought I would, and now I dread doing anything that even remotely relates to it. I want to move into a new course (something along the lines of business/commerce/marketing/economics etc ), but, the only issue is I’m pretty much failing probably all of my classes.

I didn’t hand in an assignment worth 30% of my grade, I’ve got a 6 day overdue assignment that I haven’t even started working on. Another 2 assignments due in the coming days that I haven’t even started on.

I haven’t been able to do said assignments, since recently I haven’t been in the right mental space and struggled to get the motivation to care for myself, let alone do my assignments. I’m also not formally or professionally diagnosed with anything, so I don’t have a doctors note or anything to ‘excuse’ (don’t know if that’s the right word) myself for not doing the assignments nor do I have special considerations.

My initial plan a while ago was just to do the assignments and somehow pass(?), so next year I can change into a different course.

Regarding all this, long story short, even if I do end up failing this unit/course. Would I still be able to change courses? Or, is there any specific pre-requisites I need to do to change my course. I’m planning to go to the open day and explore around the business courses for more info as well.
