What's the best shampoo for thinning hair? Sharing my routine + looking for recs
Okay so I've been on a bit of a journey trying to find the best shampoo for thinning hair and honestly my bathroom shelf is starting to look like a Ulta clearance section lol.
My current routine: I've been alternating between Herbal Essences Bio:Renew (the volume one) and Head & Shoulders every few washes because I read somewhere that H&S with zinc pyrithione can actually help with scalp health and reduce shedding? Not sure if it's placebo but my scalp does feel cleaner. I shampoo every other day, use barely any conditioner (roots only if at all), and I've been avoiding silicones like the plague.
Results? Meh. My hair looks okay but nothing has been a game changer yet. The Herbal Essences smells amazing though so that's a win I guess.
I've also tried a bunch of stuff people swear by that just... didn't work for me at all. Castor oil was a whole mess, my hair looked greasy for three days straight. Also tried doing the whole wash less to train your scalp thing and I just ended up with flat, oily roots by day two. And biotin supplements did literally nothing for me after three months, which was disappointing because everyone online acts like it's magic.
I've seen people rave about Nioxin and Nizoral on here before and I'm genuinely curious if they're worth it or just expensive hype. Also wondering if anyone's had luck with drugstore stuff vs spending $40+ on salon shampoos because I really don't want to keep throwing money at this lol.
