How can i grow my hair long faster and more voluminous?

Hi i had nice hair but because of some surgery, lot of medication and stress my hair volume have become less also i always do anxiety chopping . I don't know much minoxidil so i am not willing to use it now i visited dermat but he was very non chalant like girl it happens its okay yada yada yada and then gave me medicine and shampoo. I am using it but don't know its helping me or not but i have been seeing on reddit that ppl been using Rosemary essential oils with coconut oil /jojoba oil and getting some results even i made few months back a Rosemary diy water and i think it helps actually i got many baby hairs but need lot of patience. So do u guys think the Rosemary essential oil mixed with any carrier oil is a good idea? And how can i grow my hair longer. My hair is 3-4 inches longer than shoulder length.

Would minoxidil help if it’s always been like this?

My (27F) hairline is not great, and it has been this way since I’ve been a child. I also have two terrible cowlicks in the back of my head that make it look like I’m balding. I had my labs checked a few years ago and they were normal; multiple hairstylists say the back of my head is just unfortunate cowlicks, not balding.
My question is if minoxidil would make any difference if I haven’t had clearly noticeable thinning since it’s always been like this?

I HATE WASHING MY HAIR DAILY

I HATE IT.

So I dont anymore. By 2nd day my hair looks stringy. Im a natural blonde but I like my color, but by day 2 it looks so lifeless.

But I can barely stand to wash it every other day. Itd lose me so much time every day and idk I just hate it. I hate having to blowdry but it gives me volume. And also my hair gets damaged so easily if I shower too often.

BUT NOW I JUST HATE MY THIN GREASY UGLY HAIR AAAH. So tired of this shit!! Idk how people stand to wash their hair daily!! Ofc I shower after workouts, just not my hair.

Edit: Just wanna add that I also just mean I am SO JEALOUS of my friends with thick hair who tells me they washed their hair like 6 days ago and their hair is so thick and looks like they just stepped out of the shower - NO products (I've asked). No dry shampoo etc. Their hair just IS like that!!!

My mom has this thick hair, ofc I got my dads side lol. 😔 And thanks to everyone who gave advice!! 🫶

Otherwise my greasy hair isnt too bad, I just am jealous of others who dont have this issue. :/

Bixie/Bob Success!

Hi All, I just wanted to share this great haircut I got yesterday! It had been getting a bit long at the back.

I had previously tried a fringe ("bangs") which didn’t look great because of the thinness, and I had also previously avoided layers, but I think she did a great job leaving my left side more or less one length while cutting layers into the bits that I tend to volumise the most. I’m really impressed with how much volume she managed to put into the back of the cut. Anyway I can recommend this to any others looking for a new style.

Day-to-day I use the round brush on a drying styler (a la Airwrap but I use sharkflex) with some conditioning volume spray, and for the top I blow dry it straight up and then round it backwards to try to get some height. I then finish with some of the big sexy hair powder underneath at the roots, and then hairspray bloody everywhere.

Not pictured but I use the L’Oréal root spray to help with the scalp peeking through near the part and at the back.

Ultimate simple hair routine for very fine blond venitian male hair

Everymorning :

  1. aloe gel as an « oil » on lenght (cf Abbey Yung method) before shampoo
  2. shampoo twice with Lush solid shampoo Montalbano. It detangles perfectly !
  3. aloe gel as a leave in on lenghts.

Brush to remove the aloe « crunch ».

Voila !

I tried everything for my fine, oily, very flat hair. I continue to try other things of course. But thats what works for me at the moment. I hope I would be able to grow my hair.

Love
❤️

Minoxidil topical vs tablets

Hi everyone!

I’m thinking about starting on minoxidil and would love to hear if you have had success with the drops/liquid that you apply directly to your scalp. I’m unsure about taking the tablets as I’ve heard they can cause extra body hair all over.

What are your thoughts on Minoxidil topical treatment?

Thanks!

Tips and tricks?

My(31F) hair is naturally thin. I have pmos (formally known as pcos) so that has caused more hairloss as i've gotten older. On top of that, I had some bad extensions earlier this year that absolutely decimated my hair. I have micro tip extensions now (done properly) that are hiding the bald patches while it grows back. I'm going to get them taken out and get it cut short once my scalp has some coverage again.

What are you best tips and tricks to grows hair back?

*Please be kind. I know extensions are a controversial topic on reddit.*

how to make my hair more healthy?

first of all, english is my 2nd language and if i say something wrong, i’m sorry:)
i’ve always had problems with how greasy my hair is. i wash it today and tomorrow evening, my hair is really greasy. i’ve tried a lot of shampoos. nothing is working. now i’m washing with head and shoulders for dandruff (elseve was REALLY bad for me). but i don’t know exactly what i’m doing wrong or if its something hormonal. i’m double cleansing, most of the time with my hair upside down, conditioner on mids and ends (i don’t use masks because i feel like it’s too much for my hair), hair oil, some kind of milk (very hydrating) and thermic protection. i always dry my hair after washing, i use a hair towel. idk, andy advice that doesn’t cost a lot of money? also my hair is extremely soft and very thin (i can see my scalp when i do a sleek back). please help!

How do I make sure this never happens again?!

Hi guys this photo was taken when I went to the hairstylist for a trim. I did not realise the thinning ends had gotten this bad as I have curly hair that I normally wear in a blow dried state. I’ve cut it all off now but wondering how I can make sure it doesn’t happened again. My shedding has massively slowed down and I’ve recovered from iron deficiency anemia + vit D deficiency thank you!

What haircut would suit me better?

I want to keep it somewhat long but a different hairstyle, this is a grown out mullet

Lots of short/frizzy hair on top but “normal” ends - does anyone else have this issue?

As you can see in this pic, my ends are pretty smooth and normal but there is so much frizz on top! I don’t know if it’s female pattern hair loss or what, but there are lots and lots of short hairs which feel impossible to manage.

i‘m 6 months postpartum but hair loss started way before I gave birth.

any tips for getting on top of this? I barely wear my hair down now.

Would my hair look good long?

I’m worried my hair may be too thin to be able to style long. I want long hair in the back and pretty medium long on top, but I’m worried it will look back. For note my hair is unwashed unstyled and I was wearing a hat all day

In desperate need of others opinions

I am thinking of growing my hair out but I have absolutely no idea how they'll look once long and I really love trying different fun types of haircuts and I feel like there's not that many options with longer hair.

My hair is currently shoulder length and I have two rattails that I love but they look weird with longer hair so if I decide not to cut a shorter haircut I'll have to cut the rattails.

For the part of my life that I did have long hair they were basically pin straight and thin, it kinda looked like those childrens drawings of women when they have two lines for hair. I have noticed my hair getting thicker and more wavy(not much but it's there) with recent years but I have no idea how much of that thickness and wave will actually show once they're long.

I've been told that layers wouldn't look good in my hair type so ig that's not really an option for me.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any hair cut ideas for longer hair or would it be better to just keep cutting my hair short.

I haven't been able to go to my hairdresser for a while now and I'm itching for something new.

My already thin/fine hair is absolutely abysmal 1.8 years postpartum and it makes me feel hideous

My hair has always been thin and fine, but I am devastated with how it looks now. I am a year and 8 months postpartum and my hair has never felt thinner or finer. I was looking through photos of me even last year when my hair was bleached blonde and it looked so much fuller than what I have now. For reference, pictures one through six are photos of my hair now with no extensions, picture seven is my hair with one row of hand-tied extensions that I feel are necessary for me to feel even a little bit good about how my hair looks. Photo nine is my hair while pregnant, and photo 10 and 11 are photos taken last year after I had bleached/colored it.

My hair has gotten so bad that I’ve completely restarted my hair routine to desperately try and improve the state of it. This is my routine that I started a month ago when I finally reached my breaking point:

- only wash hair every three days
- topical Minoxidil every morning and night
- rosemary oil with mint oil as a hair mask on scalp and ends on hair wash day, leave in for the full day until I wash
- use scalp brush to massage rosemary oil into hair in shower
- double cleanse with shampoo
- let hair dry slightly in microfiber towel after shower
- only blow dry on low warm heat with heat protectant
- only curl hair once a week for work, always with heat protectant before
- leave-in conditioner twice a week
- nightly folic acid supplement
- sleep in two loose braids, silk pillowcase
- using Amika shampoo and conditioner on wash days, Amika hair styling oil on ends of hair afterwards and throughout the week as needed

I was already doing a few of these things before I reached my breaking point, but now I’ve gotten very strict with my routine. I’m just at a loss with what I should do moving forward, I feel so ugly all the time. I don’t want to rely on hair extensions to thicken the appearance of my hair for the rest of my life but that feels like the only viable option now. I do want to mention that I’ve noticed a decent amount of new growth over the past month, but I don’t know if my hair can ever actually appear fuller at this point.

Suggesting a new hair routine for me?

Hello! I’m in need of a new hair routine, my routine right now is using Aussies mousse, cantu leave in conditioner, Not your mothers gel, as for shampoo and conditioner I recently switched to Not your mothers, a lot of people say don't use heavy products but i've tried light ones and they don't help me instead it falls even more flatter for some reason. And so I switched to using cantu their damage repair leave in conditioner and it helped my hair a lot, and is what started making my hair twist around together which it didn't use to do, (i've been dry brushing my hair for more than a decade but always realized it was frizzy) but my hair still falls flat and I use not your mothers gel the number 5 the freeze one and it's definitely helped though, but I must be doing something wrong, I just feel like people still say my hair is just straight especially because my hair is very soft and silky and I've never done my hair just always brushed it straight, and sometimes it looks like a mess doing the routine especially if I do it upside down it's usually better not doing it that way but also it depends, it kinda just falls from the top, please help! My mother has 2c hair but she doesn't do her hair so I never learned from anyone and my grandpa also had 2c mixed with 3a hair. Also need advice on what hair type I have? It seems like 2a maybe?

What's the best shampoo for thinning hair? Sharing my routine + looking for recs

Okay so I've been on a bit of a journey trying to find the best shampoo for thinning hair and honestly my bathroom shelf is starting to look like a Ulta clearance section lol.

My current routine: I've been alternating between Herbal Essences Bio:Renew (the volume one) and Head & Shoulders every few washes because I read somewhere that H&S with zinc pyrithione can actually help with scalp health and reduce shedding? Not sure if it's placebo but my scalp does feel cleaner. I shampoo every other day, use barely any conditioner (roots only if at all), and I've been avoiding silicones like the plague.

Results? Meh. My hair looks okay but nothing has been a game changer yet. The Herbal Essences smells amazing though so that's a win I guess.

I've also tried a bunch of stuff people swear by that just... didn't work for me at all. Castor oil was a whole mess, my hair looked greasy for three days straight. Also tried doing the whole wash less to train your scalp thing and I just ended up with flat, oily roots by day two. And biotin supplements did literally nothing for me after three months, which was disappointing because everyone online acts like it's magic.

I've seen people rave about Nioxin and Nizoral on here before and I'm genuinely curious if they're worth it or just expensive hype. Also wondering if anyone's had luck with drugstore stuff vs spending $40+ on salon shampoos because I really don't want to keep throwing money at this lol.

Drop your routine below! Really want to know:

  • What's the best shampoo for thinning hair you've actually stuck with long term?
  • How often are you washing?
  • Any advice or product you heard about that actually worked (and what didn't)?

Help! We're all just out here trying to make our 50 strands look like 100 lol
