Need help regarding what routine to follow. I am pretty sure my hair is wavy.

This is my hair when I air dry it. I have tried the CGM and the flaxseed gel but idk maybe I am not doing it correctly and the flaxseed gel sort of individualised all my hair and it became scrunchy.

When I leave it as it is, it looks very messy like in the picture. The hair do their own thing, it isn’t clumping up to make curls/waves. Therefore, I brush it out and when I do that I get massive frizz.

Do I need to add mousse to my routine? And if I do that would it become scrunchy the way it did with flaxseed gel? Do I need to add moisturizing products in my routine? Should I not brush it out at all? I don’t want to comb in the shower when it’s wet.

I use L’Oréal total repair shampoo and Tresemmé Lamellar Gloss conditioner. Occasionally use L’Oréal hair mask

Post pics of your hair so we all feel less alone 🩷

I have the most thin and fine hair ever and one of my biggest insecurities. I think about getting a wig everyday just to cover it up. I’m only 34 and my hair used to be one of my best traits. I had the thickest( longest naturally blonde hair. And now my bun is so small and just is so stringy and feels like nothing is there 😞 I feel like no one I know my age is dealing with this..

Separating Bangs on One Side

WHY do my front pieces/bangs separate like this on my right side? They don’t do this on my left! Unfortunately the middle part looks terrible on me (I don’t have enough hair for it), so changing my part is not an option. Why does this happen and how do I fix it?

regrowth or breakage?

sorry what the hell is this? i’m not using any hair loss treatments but have been using nizoral for a couple months for what i believe is sebderm. my scalp is still v itchy tbh so not sure it’s working. it also dries my hair out a lot, i’m using stuff to counteract it but obvs only on ends. is it possible it’s regrowth or has the breakage just moved up? i get bad breakage from hair up (loose and use silk etc), but if it’s down it just knots instantly. what do we think?

Henna Recipe for maximum strength and growth

hi everyone,

someone on this sub asked for my Henna recipe but the post was taken down, so im leaving it here w some of my hair journey story for anyone who needs it..

there was a point where i didn’t think i could grow my hair to my shoulders. stress and anemia wrecked my hair completely and it was dry and brittle. i tried so many things, and spent so much money.

and i finally found what worked for me. it’s been about 6 years since i started my hair journey, and i am so happy that it’s reached my butt twice! (may post before and after pic at some point)

one of the biggest parts of this success is using Henna on my hair. i didn’t know much about it when it first crossed my path, and i thought it only came in the recognizable red color, but man was i wrong! Henna is freaking amazing! it is made from plants, and it colors and coats the hair shaft in a completely unique way- making the hair very strong, shiny, and resistant to breakage! it comes in different blends in a variety of colors, too.

so here is my Henna recipe for anyone who’s interested :)

it has been developed over many years, with some trial and error. Henna can be drying, and i created this mix to nourish and moisturize. i also have experimented with different ingredients, set time, cleansing/not cleansing after Henna- and this recipe and method are what i’ve settled on that’s worked best.

let me know if anyone has any questions and please do your research to make sure Henna is right for you before trying!

Nourishing Henna Recipe:

ingredients-
Rainbow Research Henna
Fresh Aloe blended
1/2 C Raw Honey
1/2 C Deep Conditioner
2C Hot Water

for more moisture:
1T Castor Oil
Essential Oils of your Choice

Mix Ingredients together in order, one at a time. (see pics above)
Add hot water slowly and mix until smooth (don’t let it get too runny!)

NOTE:

-DO BOT USE METAL UTENSILS, only plastic or wood (henna reacts negatively to metal)

-i only recommend using Rainbow Research Henna directly from their website (not from Amazon), bc Henna’s quality can be exceptionally questionable, and RR is 100% legit

To use:

-coat hair from root to tip. (yes it’s a huge mess, wear gloves, do it somewhere that cleans up easy.)
-cover hair, let sit for 3hrs.
-rinse out, shampoo, condition
-watch it shine ✨

henna hair every 6 weeks for best results!!

"Root touch-up" spray / powder recommendations?

Hi friends! I'm getting married this weekend, and after 2 disastrous hair trials, I've decided to do my own hair. I have dark brown hair and very pale skin, and I'm self conscious about my scalp showing through my thinning hair.

I don't have any gray hair, but I once had a hair stylist use a brown-colored "root touch-up" spray to fill in the thinning spots on my hair, and I thought it worked quite well. I'm thinking of investing in a product like that, either a spray or a powder, to add a bit of color to my roots/scalp, and give the illusion of fuller hair.

Does anyone have any recommendations (or warnings!) for "root touch-up" products like this? Any opinions on powder vs. spray? There's a bit of rain in the forecast, so I'm a little worried about that.

Thanks!

How much should I cut off?

My hair has gotten thinner and thinner over the years, I struggle with low ferritin. It was down to 5 a couple years ago, brought it back up to 50 with supplements, and my GI doctor told me to stop them so that the iron doesn’t damage my organs. My ferritin is slowly going back down and around 30 now. Anyway, my last hair stylist thinned the ends even though I didn’t ask her to. So how much should I take off at my next appointment?

Desperately need advice

Hi all! Newbie here and looking for any advice. I’ve been silently struggling with my hair for the last 6 or so years. I’ve been coloring/bleaching my hair since high school but no matter what I put my hair through, it always came back. Until now.. I feel no matter what I do I just can’t seem to get it healthy again. Late 2019 I started bleaching my hair again.. like icy white blonde 😬 that’s when I noticed how much breakage and length I was losing.

Early 2020 I went back to a more natural looking brown/blonde. I started only getting my hair done twice a year if that in hopes to recover my hair. Now I’m only getting it done once a year. However, my hair still hasn’t recovered. I’ve always had fine hair but it’s the thinnest it’s ever been and I feel I’m always losing hair. I think it’s finally fed up with me and I’m convinced I won’t be able to bring it back. Ive tried so many different products and my hair is lacking in every department! The recent picture is after blow drying.

I so appreciate the help and advice. I’ll post a pic from 2019 before I went icy blonde to what my hair looks like as of last week. PLEASE HELP ME!

Product for texture that won't weigh down fine hair?

I just cut my hair and of course the stylist didn't quite cut it how I wanted but I'm trying to work with it. My hair is wavy but fluffy and fine and thin and with my new cut I feel like I need a product after it's dried to add texture but nothing greasy or heavy. Any suggestions?

It’s time for a chop, isn’t it?

Whenever my hair grows longer, even though I give it a good trim every 2-3 months, this happens. 🥲 Is cutting to the red line enough?

u/MrsChuckapproves — 3 days ago

Is it time to chop?

My hair is fine and thin and I'm wondering if it's time to just cut it much shorter? I REALLY don't want to. I cut it into a pixie 2 years ago and this is the grow out from that. I hated the pixie.

So reddit, is it time to chop or is this still okay?

Halo extensions for thin PCOS hair?

Hi all, I’m current having issues with my hair due to PCOS. It’s extremely thin and I have lost quite a bit. I currently have split dye half black, half green but changing to all black to get my hair into a healthier state. My question is what is your experience with Halo extensions? Can anyone recommend me a/some brands?

I have naturally straight hair which is past my shoulders but I hate how thin it is. I’m really insecure about this and want to fuller look. Basically, I just want to feel happy with my hair while trying to get it to a healthier state.

Also sorry if this has been asked before, I imagine there’s many similar questions

People with naturally thin, curly, frizzy hair – what actually worked for you?

Hi everyone,

I really need some genuine advice from people who have actually seen results.

I have naturally very curly, dry and frizzy hair since childhood (genetics, I guess). I've done hair Botox treatment 2–3 times, and I'm following the aftercare properly. The treatment is going well, but my hair is still very thin. It was already thin even before the Botox, so I don't think that's the reason.

I'm also taking iron supplements because I was iron deficient.

I'm looking for things that actually worked for you to make hair look thicker, healthier and less dry/frizzy. It can be home remedies, oils, hair care routine, foods, supplements, or anything else. I'm not expecting miracle results, but I'd love to hear real experiences instead of influencer advice.

If you've had naturally thin, curly, frizzy hair and found something that genuinely helped, please share. Thank you!

Hard water folks, how are we keeping our hair healthy?

Basically the title. I moved to Arizona about 5 years ago and my hair looks awful. It's not like it was ever glorious before, it was always fine and on the thin side. Since moving though it's started thinning more, its simultaneously greasy and dry, tangles easier and just looks all around bad.

I alternate between Nioxin and Pantene Sheer Volume, use the Ouai leave in condotioner (which has helped it look a bit better) and have a showerhead filter.

Update: I think I'm actually growing more hair - March vs July

My guess is that, out of my stupidly complicated hair care routine, it is the combo of The Ordinary multi-peptide scalp serum for hair density and the L'Oréal Elvive aminexil shampoo that have made the difference. I also focus on scalp health (scrubs, anti dandruff shampoo, blow drying etc) but the moment I had a break from the shampoo and serum I've noticed a lot more shedding. I wash daily.

My hair is very fine and quite thin, I used to get called Baldy as a kid 🫪

my perm is growing out and dont know how to cut it

hii! soo im 21 yo and my birthday is on the 22th of this month. Lat year I got a perm bc I was feeling a bit too insecure of my hair. I have a medium-low density (5 mexican pesos coin ponytail) and my mom gave me the idea to get a perm so the curls would add extra volume (i also i love curly hair lol) got it and now that it's so grown out (around 10 cm root) it no longer looks good, the left side has much less hair than the right for some reason (sonce a few years ago ive been losing hair from that side) and the curls from that same side no longer form well after washing it and doing all the routine.

So now that my birthday is near idk how to cut it to disimulate my effed up hair. It's so dry and breaks too easily.. What haircuts would you recommend me? my length with the curls are js below bra band
