I want to improve my hair but i'm stuck

Hi, i'm feeling kinda lost of what i can do with my hair to look my best. I don't know if any hairstyle would look good on me, i don't know if i should cut the length or keep it, i don't even know what to say to the hairstylist because of them being thin and fine. I'm looking for really any advice for what i should do 🥺🥺

Things pulling at my hair make me want to scream

Does anyone else have this ?

I especially dread going to the hairdresser, because usually after the shampoo they will brush your hair with a fckn COMB from the top and then down and it will pull at every single hair knots and break them. I already dont have a lot of hair, why do I bother with small hair claws and silk scrunchies and anti breakage products if she's gonna ruin all my efforts in the matter of seconds? Just the feeling of that single hair pull has me in a murderous mood. How do you approach a hairdresser about this ? Is it okay to ask if I can brush my hair myself ?

update: took the extensions out

the lady from the other salon showed me the red spots where my scalp was already irritated AFTER 2 DAYS. Imagine what would have happened had I left them in longer. Today my scalp was itchy and even painful when putting my shirt on. So good that I trusted my intuition.

Mind you, I went to a salon specialised in fine and thin hair or so they said, who works together with Vogue and all, and is on national TV. So I guess we can never know. It's can be just one big advertisement and you have to be very careful to have anything done to your already more fragile hair in hopes of improving it. To find the right stylist etc. I should have done more research.

And honestly, I am HAPPY I got my old hair back. It's just me and it's time that I start accepting it and loving it the way it is. I've been struggling with some new fake person coming into my life trying to get my (romantic) attention as well, and it's like everything inside me is so done with fake things, extra hair, fake people you name it I'm done with it. So it's like another symbolic step for me towards self acceptance and self love.

Cowlick help

Looking for any and all advice for this thin fine hair girly. I’m on a hair care journey (abbey yung method like so many others!) and seeing results in terms of healthiness and shine. My hair has always been thin but it’s become much more fine postpartum.

However, I have always had this super pesky, ugly, Harry Potter scar looking cowlick in the back of my head. I’m used to only getting it to be hidden/covered when my hair is freshly washed (and it showing up in all its glory the next day), but today I showered and washed and this is what it looked like after.

Looking for any tips outside of teasing the hair around it (I try this sometimes) or adding a scalp color powder stuff (I have this already).

Thank you!!

Finally cut my straggly hair

the hairdresser straightened them, I hope being wavy they’ll not be too short once I style them myself

Ok I'm done with it, I am going to accept myself

Yesterday, put in hair extensions once again. At some fancy salon. And yes they did better than last one, but still they will tell me nothing shows of those microbeads they put in. Filmed the back of my head yesterday, only one pluck of my hair has to be out of place and yes the beads show. Of course they do, it's only normal because there needs to be enough hair to cover them.

Once again, I feel bad and panicky, now I just feel insecure about the next thing, not about my natural hair but about the extensions showing. I just don't have enough hair on the top of my head to cover all of it.

I decided to ditch them as soon as possible - if I could, I would just rip them out right now - and just accept myself. This sub is a godsend, makes me realise there are so many more of us with the same hair type and I am not alone, we are all beautiful.

One more Margot Robbie post

Someone made a post the other day asking if Margot Robbie is one of us and I saw split answers between "yes" and she doesn't have thin hair (I guess she's closer to medium density).

The thing is, this recent image of her is exactly what my hair looks like after being out and about and I've always considered my hair fine and thin. I'm not sure where the break between thin and medium density is.

I've been really taking care of my hair lately and I'm slowly growing it out. I hope to grow it to bra strap length as an end goal, but every so often I look in the mirror and wonder if it's gonna look space and thin and if spending years of my life focusing on this is worth it.

So for those of you who know how to spot extensions, can you tell me if this is her natural hair in the second picture? I really can't tell. I saw this picture today and started imagining how my hair could look one day and I wanna know if I'm being at all realistic.

I hope you don't mind me using Margot as an example, I find that visuals help a lot.

Do extensions even work when you barely have enough hair to hide them?

My hair is super fine and not very dense, and Ive always wanted to try extensions just for a little more fullness. My biggest worry isnt even the extra weight, its whether Id have enough hair to cover where theyre attached

I feel like every extension video I see starts with someone who already has way more hair than me lol. Has anyone here with really fine/low density hair tried them? Could you hide them pretty well or were you constantly worrying about them showing?

Is it weird to wear a wig?

I don't want to hide my natural hair or feel ashamed about it but...I hate it sm. 😭 Is it considered wrong to wear a wig just because one has thin hair? If not, are there any decent ones out there that don't cost every limb on my body? Tysm for any advice!! 😓

Does Margot Robbie have fine/thin hair?

Am I delusional or is it possible that Margot Robbie might be one of us 😭😭

Either way, I wish Hollywood would be more supportive and represent natural hair density on TV

Does this look like regrowth?

I lost like half my hair when I was underweight and it’s been almost a year since then but my hair is still not what it was like before. Idk why but I’m always paranoid that I am making it all up and my hair was always like this, but when I compare it to my sister who I always had slightly more hair than her, my hair feels half that amount now. I have a lotttt of shorter hairs around eyebrow height and shorter but idk if it’s just breakage or not…

À Little body from damage

I know it’s a bit crispy but I keep my hair pretty short so don’t care—the body from a little roughed up cuticle ( highlights) does wonders for my fine hair

Any advice for my damaged hair?

My hair is bleached and very thin, and I hate it.
The back of my hair isn’t too damaged, but the front pieces of my face frame have snapped off and are extremely thin.
I’ve already had haircuts, but no matter what I do it doesn’t become any better.
Is there any advice or recommended products that prevents me from cutting it off and having a bowl cut bob?

Good ol plain cold pressed coconut oil

If you’re a thin hair girlie with super dry ends, add a small drop of coconut oil to your ends before shower, your hair will thank you. I’m recommending it because I own a lot of hair oils from japan (ma cherie, &honey etc) and nothing has helped me as much as coconut oil to protect my hair from the water and shampoo. Any brand will do really.

Fall Community Post: Unrelatable Hair Posts. Must Be Nice™

Hi y'all,

Welcome to our Fall Community Post. Our theme this time is "oh no, your lobster is too buttery, and your steak is too juicy," also known as "dem thick haired girls are wildin'" or "what is this sorcery?"

Post your screenshots or stories of painfully unrelatable hair problems, tutorials, pictures, etc. so we can laugh, cry, and offer the appropriate amount of completely insincere sympathy and support.

(As a note, we do not hate thick/coarse haired girlies, guys, or enbie. We're just joking around with other folks who cannot relate to their tutorials, issues, or stories.)

Incredibly oily hair straight from shower!

Hi guys!! Im desperately seeking product recommendations (UK). I’m having huge issues with my hair literally drying greasy straight from the shower and could really do with some recommendations.

I’m thinking my hair/scalp could be overproducing oil and it’s just making me so self conscious. It’s flat and thick with grease when I dry it immediately and i’ve no idea what to do. I usually get greasy hair by the next day, but it’s seriously not even feeling clean at the moment. The bottom is, so it’s got to be a scalp issue?

I double shampoo, use a rough abbey yung method, oil my hair at night and massage it with a shampoo brush in the shower. Today I just did shampoo and nothing else and it was stoll the same! I’m literally lost😖😖 my hair is dyed copper-y so i’m mindful to not strip this… please help!!!

Best thing I did for my hair was damage it

Before and after. I did a high lift by garnier and I was afraid of the damage at first but honestly it helped me so much. My hair is not as soft as before but the damage has helped it not stick to my scalp as much as it used to and appears much more voluminous before. I definitely do recommend it but definitely do a test strand first! It can react strangely to previously dyed hair.
