Hi again! After a lot of research we’re conflicted and looking for real world experiences.
We’re about to purchase a longtail cargo e-bike for 2 kids on the rear rack, frequent sometimes steep or long hills, round trips mostly 20-50 km round trip.
We’re deciding between (both mid-drive with hydraulic brakes):
- Cannondale Cargowagen Neo2 with Bosch Cargo Line 250w/85nm and 545wh battery (but dual battery ready)
- iO InBicy SuperNova with Bafang 500w/120nm and 672wh battery (no dual battery options)

Looking for advice on a family cargo e-bike for 2 (eventually maybe 3) young kids on the rear rack, frequent hills (Madonie mountains in Sicily), round trips up to 70 km, and a budget around €3,500. I want strong power (preferably 500W) and fast shipping to Sicily from a trustworthy online retailer (no local e-bike shops near me carry these).
I’m deciding between:
- Yuba Kombi (250, 350, 500W options via Donno Bikes)
- iO InBicy SuperNova (also 250, 350, 500W options via Donno Bikes) - bigger rear rack 80cm
- Btwin r500e (or e-three)
I’m leaning toward the io InBicy but can’t find many reviews or experiences which worries me.
Any insight on:
• Rear rack space for 3 small kids (seats/bench) — which is roomier in practice?
• Hill performance with full load (torque, real-world feel)?
• Reliability, range, and after-sales service from Donno Bikes?
• Any pros/cons after real use with kids + groceries on hills?
The Velo Multilungo was originally my top choice, but I can’t seem to find anywhere that sells online and ships to Sicily… (Also considered the Moma e longtail due to higher power on hills and mid-drive, but concerned about the bad reviews.)
Also open to other options that fit the needs with fast/reliable shipping to Sicily.
Anyone tried these (especially the iO InBicy)? Any feedback would be super helpful!
