Black and Blue Bird by DMB, a song about a dog????
I hear alot of fans dislike this song. I love this song, but probably because it makes me think of my Dog named Black Bean. I know songs that Dave writes could mean different things to different people, but this one fits so perfect with the bond that one shares with that 1 dog that changes you for the better. She is 8.5 yrs old currently, but that day will come. I tear up when I hear it now, I can’t imagine the tears after she’s gone
The first verse starts with
“If I could fly at the speed of light, I could get to Canis Major (the dog constellation ) in 5000 years. Butterflies and black and blue birds, I’ll never be the same since I met you girl”
“Ashes, stardust
Look at us crawling out the mud
Let's go around the block
We'll make the most before the jig is up”
To me that refers to taking the walks around block and make the most of it until she’s gone.
