I've had a cold case in my family tree for several years and it's driving me nuts. Who do I reach out to?
Hello everyone! I've been interested in my family history for a very long time and last year i started putting together my family tree. Lucky for me, my mom's side is pretty well documented, and it's easy to see when they immigrated to the US. It's my dad's side that makes me want to pull my hair out. I'm interested in my patrilineage but the farthest I can get back (with birth and death dates) is 1735 with my 7x great grandfather, and a bit further back to my 8x great grandfather, but he has no posted birth and death dates (his wife does, however). According to wikitree (which I don't really trust), 8x grandfather was the first generation after his father immigrated from England, but from that point and back there's next to nothing publicly available online, including every large, trusted genealogy site that i could access for free at my library. I reached out to the libraries of the towns that 7x grandfather lived and died in, and one responded, but they only had access to the same resources I did, unfortunately. So, where do I go from here? Is there a possibility of an agency in England I could write to for help? Is there any secret online goldmine I should know about? I refuse to let this go.
