Is my puppy safe to meet my friend’s dog?
I have a 16 week old chihuahua puppy who has had 3 rounds of vaccines. When I took him to the vet to get his 3rd shot I was excited to finally start taking him out. However, my vet recommended he get 4 because we live in a high-risk parvo area. I did ask her if it would be okay for my puppy to meet my friend’s dog who is fully vaccinated that way my puppy can start to get socialized. She said this would be okay and I went home. However, as I thought about it I wondered if I should’ve asked more clarifying questions on the matter. My friend’s dog is a 3 year old mutt who he takes the dog park every two weeks or so and they spend time walking outside. Now I’m paranoid that she could be carrying parvo even though she’s vaccinated and that I’m being reckless having the two meet. Am I over worrying? Would it be safe for the two of them to meet or what can I do to make sure it’s as safe as possible for my puppy?
