Flying Ryanair from Eindhoven to Stansted (1 hour flight) with 2 adults and a 3-year-old toddler.

We know the toddler automatically gets seated next to one parent for free. How likely is the second parent to get split up if we just take the free random seats at check-in? Is paying extra for seat selection worth it on a short 1-hour flight, or should we just chance it?

Is there some hack to checkin just 1 parent and kid first which is free and then book a seat for the other parent for a fee ?
