Yall, why will it not let me check in?
It says I need at least 3 months of validity. I have 5 years.

Hi, wondering if this size is okay for cabin luggage which is 55x40x20? Meets the dimensions requirements but want to be extra careful
Probably the best way I could word the title.
Four of us travelling Ryanair each with a 10kg checked bag on our booking. But rather than bring four 10kg bags we'd prefer to bring 2 x 20kg bags.
I know pooling is allowed, but are you allowed to do it this way?
So my flight is at 7h10, and I was trying before the 2-hour mark to do the online check-in, and the app didn't let me continue. I had to go to the check-in in the airport, and it cost me 55€. Has this happened to anyone before me, and if it has, what did you do?
This should to the trick!
Hey everyone, I’m in a really stressful situation and need some realistic feedback or experiences.
I am 17 years old, traveling alone, and I lost my German passport yesterday here in Porto, Portugal. My flight back to Germany is today (Saturday) at 16:40 with Ryanair.
Since it’s the weekend, the German embassy/consulate is closed, so I cannot get an emergency travel document before my flight.
Here is my current plan and what I have with me:
I am heading to the Tourist Police (Esquadra de Turismo) in central Porto (around 9am) to get an official police report (Participação de Extravio).
I have a digital photo/copy of my lost passport on my smartphone.
I have my physical German health insurance card which includes an official photo of me and my full name.
My parents are sending me a signed written consent via WhatsApp, stating that I am allowed to travel alone and providing their contact number.
I only have cabin baggage, checked in online, and saved my boarding pass to my phone's wallet to bypass the main check-in desks and go straight through security.
I know Ryanair’s official policy states "no physical passport/ID = no flight". However, this is a direct flight to Germany and I already flew from Germany to Porto with Ryanair just a few days ago without any issues. Since this is an intra-Schengen flight with no border control, I am praying for gate agent leniency due to being a minor with a police report and a physical photo ID (health card).
Has anyone ever experienced or witnessed a similar situation at Porto Airport (OPO) with Ryanair? What are my actual chances of being allowed on board today?
Thanks for any advice, I am pretty nervous
FINAL UPDATE:
I MADE IT! Sitting on the plane right now.
Grateful for advice here. I’m struggling with online booking question.
My family:
Dad (me)
Mum
Daughter 1 (12)
Daughter 2 (10)
..are due to fly w RyanAir on Monday. We booked a holiday through TUI.
We’re looking forward to a much needed break, although as with many families, budget is tight!
We are preparing to check-in online, and we are being asked to pay extra to book seats. We don’t want to do this - we don’t mind where we sit, so long as everyone is secure and safe.
However RyanAir go on to say “children under ELEVEN will be seated with a parent. TEENS will be allocated seats seperately.”
So I have two questions:
My daughter is 12. Where does she fall under this policy? She is over 11 and under “teen”.
The age differentiation here is VERY young. In an age where we are much more aware of inappropriate behaviour toward young girls, could RyanAir seriously seat my young 12 year old girl between two strange blokes, without a parent to check they aren’t being inappropriate?? She’s far too young and nervous to look after herself in that kjnd of scenario.
I obviously understand that an age-cutoff is required for a policy like this, but I personably feel that the cutoff for automatic collocation with a parent on an international flight is way too young.
I requested support via an advisor on chat. They told me:
As a parent with a duty of care to my children, in an age where smartphones and cameras are ubiquitous and where we are sadly more aware of inappropriate sexual behaviour by some men, I feel deeply frustrated that RyanAir want to force me to spent more money just to ensure my 12 year old girl is safe and happy.
Grateful for any useful advice or perspective here folks.
Ryanair changed the reason for my delay to avoid paying compensation, need advice
Flight FR6558, Liverpool to Barcelona, 2 July 2026. Delayed from 13:40 all the way to around 21:30, landed nearly 8 hours late at 00:27.
At 12:15 on the day, I got an official in-app notification stating: "your flight FR6558 is delayed because the aircraft operating your flight got stuck out of base last night due to the crew reaching their maximum daily flying hours." I have a timestamped screenshot of this.
Ryanair airport staff also told me a substitute aircraft was coming in from Ireland to operate the flight, and once onboard, the pilot personally apologised and said he didn't know what had happened with the previous flight. Independent flight tracking shows the substitute aircraft (EI-EMN) made a short, unusual round trip through Shannon, Ireland shortly before operating my flight, consistent with it being scrambled in as a last-minute replacement rather than simply running late.
At the airport, check-in staff also handed me a printed notice confirming my rights, and verbally told me I'd be entitled to a refund of the flight, compensation, and to have my expenses covered.
After landing, I submitted my EU261 claim. It was rejected, stating the delay was caused by "adverse weather conditions suffered by the operating aircraft on previous sectors" - a completely different reason to what I was told at the time, and weather was never mentioned once on the day.
I've submitted two claims with the screenshots and the contradiction laid out clearly, and both times got the exact same copy-paste template response, completely ignoring the evidence.
Going to ADR next, but has anyone dealt with this exact "they switched the reason after the fact" situation successfully?
How long did it realistically take, and is there anything specific I should include or do differently to strengthen the case?
From my research it looks like this is not the first time this has happened and previous customers have been able to get compensation.
BE AWARE GUYS THIS SCUMBAGS CHARGED ME OF 4,5% Card processing fee, no reason why
My friend just booked a holiday for us but she booked my flight under Jane Doe but since I go by that name but legally on my passport my name is Jane Mary Doe. I think I might have a double barrel first name legally but tbh who knows, my parents don’t remember filling out my birth cert god love them. Will this be a problem or will I have to pay the fee to change my name on the flight ticket?
I read on the Ryanair website that middle names don’t matter once the first and surname match but will it be a problem if I have a double barrel first name?
This may sound dumb but I rarely fly and if I do it's for long haul flights. This is my first time flying with ryanair and it's from Stansted.
For check in, is it all online on the app so I do not need to go to the counter? If so do I just ignore the check in desks? I only have hand luggage btw. If I arrive at 8:25am for my 10:40am flight, is that enough time?
I haven't really flown before, I know the priority bag size limit is 55x40x20 but my bag is a couple cms larger, about 23 cms. Is that something I could get away with?
Hello,
Our flight had to depart at 23:45, however at the last moment when we arrived at the airport, they sent a message it is delayed.
At the end, we were stuck at the airport until 04:30 o clock.
I have tried going through the website to request compensation but the message is that I am not eligible for compensation due to the reasons being beyond they control which is absurd.
I had paid for one more night at a hotel due to this flight which we lost, paid an our of work hours fee for the rental car pickup once and after the delay I had to pay 30 euro more.
What can I do to get properly compensated?
Thank you!
i’m supposed to fly out tomorrow afternoon, and i was about to check in and noticed that i misspelt both me and my siblings’ name on our booking, it had autocorrected as my second name is not common at all. since my flight is less than 24 hours away will i get charged for this mistake ? or is there a way to retract this mistake for free of charge.
my second name is “lend ” but it autocorrected to “dean” which is ofc a completely differently name.
i’ve seen people say they charge €115-160 for a name change, but since it’s 3 letters only would they penalise me.
someone pls help im scared.
Learned this the hard way, so posting to save someone else the gate fee.
Away’s flagship suitcase is literally named “The Carry-On.” Its dimensions are 55 × 35 × 23 cm. Ryanair’s maximum cabin bag (even with Priority & 2 Cabin Bags) is 55 × 40 × 20 cm.
That 23 cm depth vs. 20 cm limit means it will not drop freely into the metal sizer at the gate — and Ryanair measures everything including wheels and handles. If it doesn’t fit, you’re paying ~£75 to gate-check it. No exceptions.
What makes it worse: Ryanair reportedly raised the staff bonus to €2.50 per non-compliant bag caught, with no monthly cap. So borderline bags are getting flagged far more than they used to. If you flew pre-2025 and never got checked, that’s no longer a safe assumption.
The frustrating part is that Away sizes this bag to US carrier standards (22 × 14 × 9 in), where it’s perfectly fine on American, Delta, United, etc. But “carry-on” isn’t a regulated term, so a premium bag marketed as THE carry-on fails on Europe’s biggest airline, and nothing on either company’s site connects those dots for you.
TL;DR: If you’re flying Ryanair (or most European LCCs), measure your bag against 55×40×20. The Away Carry-On, and most US-standard 22×14×9 bags, are too deep.
Anyone found a hard-shell bag that actually fits Ryanair’s sizer AND US carriers?
Ryanair just changed the arriving airport from Venice to Trieste.
It's about 120km away and (of course)I have set all my plans beginning from Venice.
I don't have much hope, but does anyone know if there will be a transportation provided by Ryanair from TRS to VCE?
Omg this is starting to piss me off. I have a passport from 2023 and it just keeps staying on the scanning page.
I see some people say they put their phone sideways and then it scanned. One person said upside down without moving it but the app tells you to move it.
I can't figure this out...I'm assuming they want the bottom page of Canadian passport that has the passport number DOB and photo right?
I have booked a flight and booked PLUS so 20kg included
II have 2 x 20kg each purchased And PLUS 20kg
Total 60kg ( it’s for a wedding ) just checking as
Ryanair told me I have PLUS 20kg and just 1 extra
20kg purchased so total 40kg
Thanks
I had a flight from Belfast to Krakow on Monday that was delayed for 8 hours but they have said I'm not entitled to any compensation due to ground handling damage to the aircraft. Is this just a kop tutor is there any better way to try and claim?
