Card Declined on plane purchase.

Good afternoon. I recently traveled on 2 separate planes run by Ryanair.

On them they sell these scratch cards for charity.

I bought several, and on the plane the transaction was not an issue.

However, several hours later when I reached home, I got the notification that the purchases have been declined by my card issuer.

What should I do? I want to pay for the product and not just walk away with it. Can I contact someone and give a different card to complete the payment?

Are me and my wife entitled to compensation for this 10hr 45min delay?

Me and my wife were on a flight the other day which was scheduled to depart at 11:45pm and arrive at 00:55am.

This was delayed several times:

  1. Departure @00:50am | Arrival @02:00am (Reason - Air Traffic Control Capacity)

  2. Departure @1:40am | Arrival @02:50am (Reason - Air Traffic Control Capacity)

  3. Departure @2:40am | Arrival @3:50am (Reason - Waiting for an engineer to come and fix a first aid kit as it had been used in the previous flight).

At this point everyone boarded the flight and were waiting for a while only to be told we would have to dismebark the plane as the crew had gone over 14 working hours.

  1. The flight was then delayed further to depart @09:30am and arrive @11:40am.

The reasons for the delays are as accurate as possible based on announcements and screenshots we have.

Please help me understand what, if any, compensation we can look into, how we should go about it, and what we should be wary of in the process?

Thank you in advance.

Does anybody understand the safety pictograms on Ryanair

When exiting the aircraft in an emergency, I understand no luggage, no high heels and no smoking. However, what is that in the upper right? And in the lower right, I see glasses but what is the other item?

Worth paying to pick seats with a 3yo?

Flying Ryanair from Eindhoven to Stansted (1 hour flight) with 2 adults and a 3-year-old toddler.

We know the toddler automatically gets seated next to one parent for free. How likely is the second parent to get split up if we just take the free random seats at check-in? Is paying extra for seat selection worth it on a short 1-hour flight, or should we just chance it?

Is there some hack to checkin just 1 parent and kid first which is free and then book a seat for the other parent for a fee ?

Thanks!

Extra Item Seat Regulations

I’m planning an upcoming trip from Sofia to Dublin and I wanna take two of my guitars with me. I’ve got a double case and am planning on buying a separate ticket for that case so that it can sit next to me. The only problem is that I’m concerned as to whether or not they have any dimension restrictions for such items and if so what they are. I couldn’t find any information on their website and the “contact us” channels are pretty much useless.

If anybody has any previous experience with this or knows how I can speak to a human at Ryanair I’f be grateful for a pointer.

Warning for everyone flying out of Malta : Very strict hand luggage checks

Just wanted to share a quick heads-up for anyone boarding from Malta. They are extremely strict with hand luggage limits right now.
I had a basic fare that only included a small personal item. Here are a few things to keep in mind based on my experience:
Sizing box tolerance: If your bag doesn't slide into the metal sizing box completely smoothly (i.e., if you have to force or push it in at all), they count it as exceeding the limit.
Layering clothes: When my bag didn't fit, I put on 3 t-shirts to reduce bag volume. Surprisingly, the staff told me this was not allowed at the gate.
Has anyone else experienced this level of strictness with personal attire/layering at Malta airport recently?

Refusing to pay for check in bag at terminal

Has anyone ever experienced this I've heard different stories from a few people, the context is the same for all but this is one of them:

There was a guy who was told that his 10kg cabin bag didn't fit in the cabin bag check slot as he was about to board the plane and they told him he would have to pay. He refused and said he's not paying as it did fit but the straps hung out the middle or something daft. He then called their bluff and said fine I won't fly as he's not paying the fee. This would then mean that his suitcase would then need to be removed from the aircraft as a flight isn't allowed to leave without the passenger/owner. This being the case would result in time on tarmac for the aircraft resulting in delay fines to Ryanair so the check in staff essentially turned round and said fine you can go on and waivered the fee.

Pretty neat loophole if true, just wondered if anyone else had seen this.

Con UK no he tenido ningún problema.

----

Hi! I have a flight this Sunday from Madrid to London (with a confirmed round-trip ticket). I applied for the ETA using my Peruvian passport, which expires in November of this year. I haven’t had any problems with the UK. But Ryanair is telling me that I need a passport valid for more than six months to travel. Could they deny me boarding even though my ETA has already been approved? I don’t have Spanish citizenship—just a residence permit and a passport that’s still valid but expires in November :(

Is there anything I can do?

Ryanair compensation payment - ART Italy

Hey everyone, so I was unjustly denied boarding by Ryanair and they refused compensation, so I went to the ART Italy (kinda like Aviation ADR) and there Ryanair agreed to pay me compensation and signed the formal agreement.

The agreement was signed on 30 July and according to the agreement Ryanair has 90 days to pay me from signing.

Looking for other people's experiences regarding compensation payments. How long did it take for you to get the compensation in your bank account after Ryanair said they'd pay.

*by the way after signing the agreement Ryanair hasn't contacted/updated me at all.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

New family seating arrangement is a disaster.

I understand what the government and whoever else brought this up were trying to do - we shouldn't pay to be able to sit with our children.

Fair.

But the effective difference now is the following:

before: Pay 8-12 euros and a family of 4 seats together (family seat pricing and free reserved seat for the kids)

now: Pay 15 euros per seat (total 60 euros) for the family to seat together or pay 0 and one parent seats with the two children in the back of the plane and the other parent sits in the middle seat somewhere in the front 30 rows away.

For a family vacation where the entire family wants to sit together, what would have previously cost 24 euros max now costs 120 for a return trip.

Sincerely thank you for nothing.

ADR adjudication - Barcelona to London 10th June

I have just obtained compensation via ADR for a delayed flight (more than 3hrs). Ryanair initially denied my claim due to "adverse weather in previous sectors".

The flight was FR 9045 from Barcelona El Prat to London Stansted on the 10th June.

There was a previous post by julia08083 about the fact that Ryanair changed the reason for the delay: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ryanair/comments/1u42hi0/ryanair_changes_reason_for_delay_in_order_to/

They actually replaced the aircraft for a technical issue, but still blamed the weather in London. So, if you were on that flight (or on any other flight where Ryanair gives an unconvincing reason for denying compensation), don't just accept Ryanair blanket answer, and submit your claim to ADR https://www.aviationadr.org.uk/

45 minutes stood outside in 24c

Wasn’t on the flight but wanted to share and ask why Ryanair do this. I was sitting in a hotel restaurant overlooking the Lux to Barcelona flight which was an hour delay, saw the passengers come out and stand at least 45 minutes outside until they could board.

So, what is the reason for making everyone stand outside in the heat with luggage and small children when they could wait in the terminal instead?

EU261 Compensation Expenses Help Please

Hello, I hope this is right place but please let me know where if not 😊

My flight from OPO > EDI was delayed so have raised a EU261 compensation request on Ryanair's website. Our original departure time was 05:55 but was delayed to 17:00.

The delay was due to "minor technical issue with the aircraft earlier today." Unsure how "earlier today" fits when our flight was so early in the morning.... It was fixed pretty quickly as it was delayed to 12:45 and got new gate number but then they delayed again to 17:00 but did not say why.

Claim seems to be approved as I got an email asking for my payment details. However, I've not been able to add copies of receipts for expenses when I first raised the claim and I don't see where else I can include it now that there's an update asking for payment details. Does anyone know how I can include that, please, or do I just take it straight to ADR? First time making a flight claim so unsure what to do even though I read through some other posts 😅

Thanks!

Despite passports expiring in November, I can’t check in for a trip planned this week.

My children’s Dutch passports expire in November 2026.

We arrive in Morocco on 20 August 2026, and the Ryanair app refuses to let me complete online check-in for either of them because it requires their passports to be valid for at least three months after our arrival date.

Both children are affected by the same issue.

Does anyone know whether they will be allowed to travel to Morocco with their current passports and, if so, how I can complete their check-in with Ryanair?

Do I take the risk or is it strongly recommended to take an emergency passport? I’d rather avoid those extra costs of course..

Is it possible to select & pay for a seat after checking in with random seat allocation?

As per title. My 'plan' is to check-in, see what seat I am allocated, and if it is a crap one upgrade to a selected seat. Has anyone done this?

Obviously after checking in I will have a boarding pass which would have to be changed, and of course because it is less than 24 hours before departure I appreciate that the selectable seats available will be both few and expensive.

Also, does checking in via the app versus the website using a pc/laptop make any difference to succeeding in doing this.

Thanks fellow flyers!

Ryanair cabin bag 1cm over - how strict are they at Manchester/Beauvais?

I’m flying to Paris tomorrow with Ryanair from Manchester Airport to Paris Beauvais, and I’m a bit worried about my cabin suitcase. I have the Tripp Retro Black Cabin Suitcase, which is 55 × 37 × 21cm. Ryanair’s Priority cabin bag allowance is 55 × 40 × 20cm, so mine is technically 1cm over on the depth. It’s a hard-shell case, so obviously I can’t really squash it down that extra 1cm.

For anyone who has flown Ryanair recently:
How strict are they about a suitcase being 1cm over?
Do they actually measure/check every Priority cabin bag, or only some?
What are Manchester Airport and Paris Beauvais like specifically?
Is it likely they’d make me put it in the sizer/check it into the hold, or am I overthinking the 1cm?

I’ve never flown Ryanair before, so any recent experiences would be really appreciated!

Ryanair choose your own seat for free

Around 30 hours before my flight, I got a Ryanair notification that I can start checking in. I always wait to check in 24h before, as I’m not bothered about paying for a seat, but something made me look at it this time. It allowed me to check in early, and choose my own seat for free? There was about 10 rows of seats I could have chose from, window seats included. Is this a new thing or I got lucky and had some glitch?
