I think a Persian pantheon could be interesting. In ancient Persia, people would build “fire temples” where they kept a fire eternally lit, and they would pray to their gods there. Fire was an extremely sacred element to them. So maybe, in the game, they could build fire temples, and they would have to keep their fires burning to generate favor, meaning you would have to spend wood to maintain them.

winged dogs is a good fit for Persians. The dog was a sacred animal to them and there is a mythological bird in Their culture that's often depicted with the either the head or the body of a dog.
a giant roaster. while not a mythological creature, the roaster was also a sacred animal and believed to have been an agent of the gods.
