First Disney Trip

Going to Disney World in November 2026 for my daughter’s 5th birthday and looking for hotel recommendations. It’ll be our first Disney trip and we’re staying 5 days / 4 nights.

We’ll also be traveling with two grandparents who have mobility issues, so easy transportation is a huge priority.

We won’t have a car and would prefer a hotel with reliable Disney transportation/shuttles to the parks.

Trying to decide between staying on Disney property vs nearby hotels. Would love recommendations on:

Best resorts for first-timers

Easiest transportation setup for grandparents

Resorts that are convenient without tons of walking

Good options for a family with a 5-year-old

Also looking for any first-timer advice in general:

Are Lightning Lane / Fast passes worth it with a 5-year-old?

Best rides and attractions for younger kids?

Any must-do character meals or experiences?

Tips for navigating the parks with grandparents who have mobility issues?

Best park strategy for 5 days / 4 nights?

Anything you wish you knew before your first Disney trip?

Open to value, moderate, or deluxe resorts depending on whether the convenience is worth the extra cost.

Does anyone have experience with Quality Assurance? I am interested in working in this area, but haven’t had any luck finding positions.

Background: Recently graduated from my ABA M.S. program and I need to accrue hours before I can take the BCBA exam. I have experience in HR and plan to focus on OBM and compliance once I’m certified.
