“Light cooking”

Made it here a couple of weeks ago (thanks to everyone who replied on my last post about public transit).

I am looking for a room to rent and see people say “only light cooking.” I asked one person and she said she’s okay with housemates cooking one big meal or two light meals.

I’m new to Fresno from Southern California. I’ve also lived in San Diego, Temecula, Phoenix, Houston, and even Sacramento, but have never seen this before.

Has anyone else heard of this and can explain why people make this request?

Fresno public transit

I’m relocating to Fresno for a job and don’t have a car.

How reliable is the public transportation system for commuting?

Any insight from residents who ride the bus regularly or have before buying a car?
