MOTO DELI

As a tower district and district 1 resident, I could not be more disappointed that MOTO is going to host Rob Fuentes and Jerry Dyer tomorrow. I LOVE both MOTO and Mirror Coffee but I’m no longer going to support them if they’re supporting Fuentes and Dyer.

Fuentes literally has broken up families in our community by working with ICE. He also wants to approve SEDA. Hey Moto, you want even more people flocking to the suburbs away from the center of town where your business is located??

Fuentes is backed by Dyer, which is another problem. What kind of person takes the endorsement from someone who has an extensive history of racism and that SA’d an underage girl?

Sorry MOTO, it was awesome to have you, but I’ve broken up with restaurants for way less.

*Edit because I got asked and dm’d asking about this. Here is the flyer for a counter action being planned (not by me)

Edit 2: Moto has confirmed that Fuentes/Dyer aren’t hosting an event there tomorrow. Moto confirmed that they had spoken with Fuentes/Dyer and were willing to host the event but didn’t receive a final confirmation for the booking. I personally will still go to Moto but will watch closely how they move going forward. I personally have a problem that they were willing to host this event if they had gotten the final booking.

Edit 3: According to Fresno Resistance, they learned about the event directly from Dyer and Rob Fuentes, who said the fundraiser was scheduled to take place at Moto tomorrow. Their full comment as well at Moto’s comment is linked above on the Instagram post.

Fresno Pacific University

Any alumni able to give me some opinions on how their time was? I'm strongly considering enrolling after years in the workforce and wanting to make a change for myself.

Fresno and the Autism Spectrum

Ive been in this reddit community for a long while so I want to take this opportunity to open up a little bit about myself.

I have autism. Clincally diagnosed since the age of 3. I have never really ran into any autistic adults, or anyone autistic really, and I want to pose this question to everyone here.

Have you ever met someone on the Autism Spectrum? Do you know someone that is on the Autism Spectrum? I would be happy to see that I am not too lonely in this community whilst on the spectrum :)

Best place to find used fabric in Fresno area?

I’m learning to sew and am looking for fabric to practice with. Neighborhood Thrift is my usual spot, didn’t find much last week. Any other suggestions or spots a new sewist would wanna know about?!

“Light cooking”

Made it here a couple of weeks ago (thanks to everyone who replied on my last post about public transit).

I am looking for a room to rent and see people say “only light cooking.” I asked one person and she said she’s okay with housemates cooking one big meal or two light meals.

I’m new to Fresno from Southern California. I’ve also lived in San Diego, Temecula, Phoenix, Houston, and even Sacramento, but have never seen this before.

Has anyone else heard of this and can explain why people make this request?

Any places with good Brown Butter Cookies around here similar to the ones in the coast?

The ones in Pismo are absolutely delicious. I know they ship but I’d prefer to get more fresh and locally.

ISO large coffee shops/ work friendly

I am remote worker and I was thinking of going to a cafe once a week to get myself out of the house and around other humans.

Looking for some recommendations for larger shops where I wouldn’t feel like I’m taking up a table from other customers for too long. I know the library is an option but I’d love to find some other spots too! I am a big coffee drinker and would love somewhere with good pastries or even a light lunch menu :)

Fresno Nightcrawler BAB

Just heard Build a Bear is making this silly guy into a huggable plush. I remember hearing about these cryptids before moving here and I just find it so silly. Thought it would get some laughs if I shared.

Fresno County Lab Technician Exam

Has anyone taken the online exam for the Lab Technician position for Fresno County (Public Health)?

I’m not sure what type of questions to expect on the exam. I’ve made my own study guide including lab safety steps, sample handling, basic microbiology terminology, dilution equations, and percent solutions.

Any advice?

What type of food do you think is missing in Fresno?

With the announcement of tacos el franc opening, it got me thinking. I feel like theres so much of the same stuff going on here. Seems like new places are usually tacos, smashburgers, or whatever other trendy food is viral at the time. And to top it off, they're usually underwhelming. What kind of restaurant would you like to see in Fresno? What do you think is missing? Or do you have any recommendations of a spot with great food?

Why do our libraries suck so much?

Compared to other large cities in California, the Fresno Public Library leaves a lot to be desired. Don't get me wrong, I like going there and using the resources or just sitting and reading, and so do my kids, but I think major improvements are needed. Some of the books collections seem to be outdated, the program/activity options are limited, and there is a lack of study space. Fresno leadership needs to go to LA, San Francisco, or even a midsize city like Sacramento or Santa Barbara, check out the libraries, and get some ideas for improvement. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
