My abortion experience at 6 weeks
TW SICK MENTIONED
For the last two days, I have been completing a medical abortion. Initially I opted for a surgical however, I suffered the most ridiculous morning sickness and needed the pregnancy to end as soon as possible.
As I am in the UK, I chose to go with a private yet NHS funded clinic called MSI. They are based all around the country, and I much preferred my treatment there as opposed to on the NHS. The staff were so kind, supportive and attentive with my experienc
Initially they gave me an ultrasound, however it was far to early in my pregnancy to see anything, so they opted for an internal ultrasound - Which is nothing to be afraid of!!! Although terrifying at first, the atmosphere eases and becomes more manageable.
After my appointment, I was sent home with extremely detailed instructions and a small discreet box. I took the first medication and felt completely fine, as if I could go about my day to day activities.
The following day, I took the second load of medicine. This you can choose between inserting orally or vaginally. After insertion, I didn't really feel much.
Until... 30 minutes later. I suffered incredibly painful cramping, sweating, shaking, all while being sick amongst other things. I lay on my bathroom floor for a long time wincing in pain. After some research, I discovered that many women describe the Misoprostol experience as a 'Mini Labour'!!!
However, eventually this passes. The pregnancy ends and you feel as if your having a humongous period.
I just wanted to say, every woman has different experiences, different reasons as to why they cannot bare a child - and thats okay!! Your body, your choice. Dont let anybody tell you otherwise. I didn't do an awful lot of research into medical abortion, which is partially my own fault however upon reflection I wish I did!! I wish somebody had posted an experience similar to mine online.
Stay strong, hang in there. <3
