New to Dragon Quest. Which Title Should I Play?

Good morning, everyone! I've seen these games over me 15+ years of gaming but have never actually played them. With that being said, I have some questions! Also, I have no limitation on the console I can play on nor the game of which I start with.

Which game should I start out with first?
With the game being suggested, which console should I play it on?
Is each game its own story or is it one big story being told through all of them?
How long on average are these games?
Are these games more tuned to do side content, main content, or a good mix of both?

I'd like to know why you recommend a certain game to me, too. You don't need to tell me, but it'd be nice to hear why if you don't mind explaining!

I'm New to VNs and Need Help Choosing My Next VNs to Buy and Play!

Mornin, everyone! I need some suggestions for what to play next and also what to buy and play later! I'm still really new into the VN space and have only played DDLC, The Shell Part 1, and the common and one character route of Kinkoi: Golden Loveriche. I really enjoyed DDLC for what it was and The Shell has become one of my all-time favorite games. I do have Part 2 and 3 but am planning on playing those more towards the end of the year. As for Kinkoi, I thought the common route was great at first, then got kind of okay towards the end. After playing the Elle character route, I just felt like the game wasn't really my style. I'll probably pick it back up at some point, but for right now I just wasn't really feeling it. The current VNs I own are below.

- Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
- If My Heart Had Wings
- Katawa Shoujo
- YOU and ME and HER: A Love Story
- The Shell Part II: Purgatorio

Any recommendations on new VNs I should pick up that y'all think I would like based on the games I have played would be much appreciated. Also, what game should I try out next? I will probably review the game here on Reddit once I finish it as well.
