Should I travel to India now for H1B stamping or wait?

My current H1B visa from my previous employer is valid until September 16, 2026. My new employer’s H1B is already approved and valid through July 2029.

I’m thinking of traveling to India in early September for stamping. My thought is that if my appointment gets cancelled or I’m unable to complete t

How should I decline an accepted job offer before the company files my H-1B transfer?

I accepted an offer for a Senior Full Stack Engineer role, but another opportunity I was waiting for has now worked out, and I have decided to move forward with that company instead.

The first company has already put significant time and effort into my H-1B process, background verification, and onboarding. They are expected to file my H-1B transfer petition very soon, so I want to inform them before they spend additional time and money on the filing.

The recruiters, hiring team, and immigration team have been very supportive, and I feel bad about withdrawing at this stage. I still want to handle this as professionally and respectfully as possible.

I would appreciate suggestions on the best wording and whether there is anything else I should consider before notifying them.

No Father, No Local Support: Pregnant Woman Assaulted by Husband’s Family in Bengaluru

I am seeking advice for a distant female relative in Bengaluru.

She lost her father many years ago and lives with her widowed mother. A distant relative approached them and arranged her marriage to her son. The marriage took place around 10 months ago.

After marriage, she faced physical violence, verbal abuse and serious mistreatment. She is now five months pregnant and has returned to stay with her mother.

Recently, members of the husband’s family allegedly came to her mother’s home while her mother was at work and assaulted her. She went to a nearby hospital, where the incident was recorded as a domestic-violence or medico-legal case.

She and her mother are scared to file a complaint because they have no local family support. Her mother is the only earning person and cannot take repeated leave from work. They are also afraid of retaliation from the husband’s family.

I live outside India and am trying to understand what the safest and most practical next steps are.

Anyone familiar with Bengaluru or Karnataka procedures, women’s support organisations, police complaints, legal aid, domestic-violence cases or cybercrime matters, please share what you believe they should do.

Should I renegotiate salary after accepting an offer but before starting?

I accepted a Senior Software Engineer offer from Company A. My background check is already complete, h1b transfer is in process and I’m currently waiting for my confirmed start date.

I had interviewed with Company B earlier, and they recently came back with an offer at roughly the same compensation as Company A. Company A is still my preferred company and team, but I’m considering asking the recruiter whether they can increase my base salary to $150K based on having another active offer.

Would it be a bad idea to negotiate at this stage since the competing offer is not actually higher? Could this create unnecessary risk or make Company A question my commitment?

Has anyone successfully renegotiated after accepting an offer and completing the background check, but before starting?
