Help pick my next book

So I started to read books as a New Year’s resolution, I started with animal farm, but only got halfway through when I found out the ending, the exact same thing happened with my 2nd book, 1984, but then I read the count of Monte Cristo which had me gripped pretty much the entire time, I will say I found the back-end of the Paris arc, especially Valentine and maxes, AND Benedettos storylines’s endings to fall short, >!how did the count move valentines body, when did he? how did he make her seem dead? Also the Count is lowky a simp to fold like that in “the night”,!< the book could’ve been easily 1800+ pages, everything other than that was dare I say perfect, real page turner, Cadarousse was my favourite character.

Im just about to finish the Iliad with the pace I’m reading at currently. Other than some slight repetition in some words, phrases and even paragraphs, I found the mix of war and magic to be a page turner where I never know what to expect, along with the fact it’s written way back when. Very good, but not better than Dumas magic art of storytelling where it makes you feel like you’re veritably in 1845.

Just asking for suggestions what to pick up next? I want the same level of philosophic unnecessary details Dumas has on his setting onto the actual characters aswell, I wanna feel truly acquainted with them as I was with Marseille, Rome and Paris, I want to hear their thoughts for pages, >!I want to actually pick a side in danglars and villforts marriage arguments.!< If you can’t tell, I can’t justify paying 20$ for a book online or indigo where I can pay 3$ at thrift stores, I really wanna find the brothers Karamazov, and really more of big D in general

Spiders in my African Violet

The first pic is the mama, usually I don’t mind spiders but when they lay an egg sack that’s my line. Somehow I didn’t even notice even then nest until today, which is weird because I bottom watered in the shower yesterday. Anyway usually for pests I just spray a 1:3 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water on the crown but African Violets are, as we know, sensitive. so what do can I even do, without rotting the crown? Go outside and brush all them off? Also, will they spread to my other plants?
