What to do in Cruise

Curious what ya’ll do in cruise for long flights. Im at a small airline and I fly with the same people, so we obviously run out of things to talk about. I have one CA that never minds if I pull my personal iPad out to read a book on it, but I have no idea how to approach the subject with others. I usually have music playing, but it gets boring. Cheers!

S. Boardii

Wanted to share an update, not yet a success story. I don’t want to Jinx it! I have been using S. Boulardii for about two weeks and have not experienced diarrhea since. It has not resolved my cramping, but i am doing a lot better gut wise!

Trying to diagnose my condition

Good day everyone!

For the past couple of years my condition has gotten worse and more noticeable (which probably contributes to the condition.)

Initially over 10 years ago, it was just the cramping. Lower abdomen cramps that would be on and off for a few hours. For a while, i thought cutting milk got rid of them. But I still ate cheese, yogurt, etc. Only milk itself (cereal.)
Then i started to slowly introduce it and didn’t have the problems. The cramps eventually came back, I tried cutting beef. Initially, seemed to work. Slowly introduced it, no issues.

Nowadays I experience what i’m told by my primary care is IBS-D. Sometimes I am eating and before I can even finish, race to the bathroom and have D. Usually it is only that one movement or two. I have done some research and think I have an over reactive gastrocolic reflex?

The cramping is still there but much less frequent. Fatty foods, greasy foods, garlic which I burp for hours (not digesting) will trigger it almost always. The only things that are safe with me besides home cooked are Chik Fil A and Wawa. The rest I avoid like the plague. It is strange, because there was a time in my life I could eat almost anything.

I have been working with the Mayo Clinic and have had endoscopy, colonoscopy, blood work, scans, x rays, you name it. Next up is a stool test and further x ray and a pain consult for a possible lidocaine injection for the cramps.

I am lost, trying stuff on my own including low fodmap diet, i’ve tried Meta Mucil (seemed to be okay,) and I am just starting S. Boulardii. I am also using Levsin to control the cramps and urgency which helps a lot but it’s not a solve all.

Anyone have advice on what to try next or any thoughts? It is the only major thing wrong in my life yet it seems to make some days feel like there’s no point in trying to live if I will deal with this forever.

Ibs or stomach bug?

I have been focusing on my diet a lot lately as I seem to have IBS-D (still in testing.) I had taco bell on Tuesday night, had diarrhea before i even finished the meal. Instant regret. Next day I was feeling very bad. I took my Levsin and pepto to calm it down, only got me to about 60%. Here I am Sunday morning, can’t form solid stool, and constant headache.

Any advice or thoughts on what’s going on? I’ve been going to work and relying on my Levsin and Pepto to get me through but it is draining and depressing.
