I made a mistake when planning a skirt and now I don't have enough fabric for the button facing. It's a maxi skirt so I need quite a long strip of fabric (going from the waist to the feet in the center front). I was wondering how bad it would be if I bought 10 cm of fabric and cut the strip perpendicular to the grain line. The strip would make up the innermost layer of the facing which would be folded 2 times, sewn in place and then the button holes would be added.
Would this work or is it a very bad idea? I really don't want to buy a whole meter of new fabric just because I need additional 5 cm attached to my skirt.
