Found this bringback G98 today. It’s in good condition, but is duffel cut a bears some seemingly original trench art.
The real highlight, though, is the mud cover that matches the patina of the gun and has left a permanent mark on the stock.
What are your thoughts or recommend recommendations on repairing this duffel cut?
I attended a large high school graduation yesterday and was alarmed by the complete lack of serious security (6-7k ppl in attendance, no metal detectors, no bag limits, no ticket check, negligible police presence, unguarded exits, etc.)
The area has a history of school shootings, but lots of folks carry.
3 other similar ceremonies were scheduled at the same venue back to back.
The venue has a strict no firearms policy, even for CWP holders like myself… i’ll let you guess how I responded to that.
So, I made a post to a local Facebook page bringing attention to the lack of security, and the overall mood was one of annoyance and dismissal.
Sometimes I wonder if people who carry and live in conservative areas, don’t have a bit of an invincibility complex… thoughts?
In my mind, this was an example of inexcusable apathy on the part of the school district.

Hey all, I have this 6-digit M1 that is a Danish rework, but it has a nice SA GHS stock with a very faint large ordnance wheel.
I understand the stock is incorrect for the rifle, but what is the likelihood that this is the stock that a Danish armorer would have installed?
What would the stock be worth on its own?

To all you Utah shooters/collectors, Utah Gun Exchange is rife with scams.
M1s, M1As, and 1911s are the most common bait, but I’ve seen other milsurps, too.
Telltale signs are numbers that behave oddly when called. For example, the message machine will say “subscriber” instead of “person”
Texts will not say “delivered” under the text bubble.
The seller will usually post from the far end of the state and insist on shipping or taking a deposit via Venmo or Zelle
Never pay a dime without meeting the seller and inspecting the gun first.

Can any of you tell me when/why they changed the style of cross bolts used in these stocks?
The left rifle also has a different bolt handle than I’m used to seeing, though it’s also correctly “R” marked on the underside.
Any info on that?
