Why isn't Starmer gone???

The Labour Party lost more than 1400 council seats in the last election - they lost seats that haven't been lost in a century. His cabinet members have asked Starmer to resign and when he didn't, they resigned. So (American asking) why is Kier Starmer still the PM???

Why is everyone so obsessed with hating on Meghan Markle?

It just confuses me. Two people, one a prince, one an actress, decide to marry. Big wedding. They have children. They have problems. They leave one country for another. What is the big deal that all these people are obsessed with catting about and hating Meghan Markle?

Of Kamala Harris' "no bad ideas" post, what methods do you agree should actually be implemented to improve the country?

I watched Kamala Harris' "no bad ideas" post and felt chilled that she was willing to seemingly pull everything down for her party to win. What ideas of hers are actually something you'd consider as viable, and which do you consider nonstarters or just talk?

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iZ0Z5dgmNOk

She lists:

* Expand the Supreme Court

* Expand Congress to add more reps per district (rather than more districts)

* Make Puerto Rico and DC states

Do you think these would make America better?

Edit: If you listen until the end, Kamala thinks these are ways to win, to beat the GOP. Not to better the country. How can these things better the country?

Could a "don't be ridiculous" law be put into place regarding gerrymandering shapes?

Whenever the GOP gerrymanders, the maps often look like patchwork quilts. When Democrats gerrymander, you get the Virginia lobster or Illinois Amazon river map, where the dems stuff all their problem children (the GOP) into one district. Even Colbert mocked Pritzker for the Illinois map.

I mean - could there be a rule to prevent all the weird twists and turns? What would that rule legally be other than "don't be ridiculous"?

So far, lobsters or no, the GOP is winning the gerrymandering war. https://nypost.com/2026/05/07/us-news/redistricting-after-scotus-decision-could-give-gop-edge-in-midterms/

Hi! The installers have spent a good two weeks creating duct work and installing an HVAC. Most is really good - just have another tweak to make the air flow best. They also helped with the ceiling, which was just a bear.

What is an appropriate gift or tip? I've sometimes offered food, etc. but I don't know what is generally expected. I feel like any monetary tip I can afford is not enough for their time and work, and they're also professionals. But maybe it would be best? For everyone on the team including lead, or would the latter be a conflict since he did the negotiating? What is the best way to show appreciation?

If new ductwork and new 5-ton variable inverter HVAC system has been installed, and the CFM is stabilized at 1196 with static .49 or com 1450 with static .87, is that an issue? The returns may be undersized, and the air is rushing loud in old school supply vents. What would be the solution? The installer isn't too concerned, but I thought a 5-ton always needed a CFM between 1750-2000 to make sure the motor didn't burn out. The CFM has never gone higher than 1450.

I've lost a lot of respect for Hakeem Jeffries, and he seems to have dropped in the polls - from +3 to now -11 on Real Clear Polling, lower than Johnson's -8. He keeps calling the differences between the GOP and Democrats a war. The baseball bat picture, etc. It's just not what we need.

Mike Johnson's style is seems to be less attacking than Jeffries, and I prefer it. He's fake but generally tries to be a gentleman. I like John Kennedy.

Is there anyone you'd want over Jeffries? Do you think he's taking the right stance attacking the president? Who may have better results? Who would be better than Schumer?
