Message to Ubisoft: Please remove Centurion's pants
Being a Roman character, he should not have pants and the fact he wears them is very off putting and disappointing to anyone who wants to create an authentic roman loadout. I understand for honor does not have historical authenticity as its main focus, that is obvious, but there are other characters that do not have pants, and it just highlights how absurd Centurion, of all characters, has pants out of the selection of ones that do not.
Highlander has a skirt with no pants. A Scottish barbarian. Gladiator has a skirt with no pants AND he is ALSO a Roman character like Centurion. Why do these characters have skirts whereas centurion doesn't?
Add on to this the fact that Centurion has a pteruges (the greek word for the armored skirt that Greeks and Romans wore) but he still wears pants underneath them. WHY?!?!?! Why give him a skirt and put pants underneath it. Why not just remove the pants?
Add on to THAT the fact Centurion already has an armor set that removes his pants and shows off his legs (The Rapax armor set among a few others that have different names but are essentially the same). So, the model for his legs is already there and would be easy to show on all of his other armor sets. You would just have to remove the pants and add in the thigh models that already exist and boom done.
Yes, I am aware Romans did technically wear pants. But they only did this later in the Empire's history, mainly the 4th and 5th century onwards. For the vast majority of Roman history, Romans did not wear pants because they were seen as barbaric and were worn by Germans and Gauls, barbarian cultures Rome looked down on.
No, this is not a gooner post either. I am not writing this to see Centurion's thicc juicy thighs (though he does have very nice thighs I must say) but rather because him having pants does not fit his character or host culture and really removes the ability for people to create the authentic Roman look they would want. Not to mention, ALL of his other armors would just look objectively better without pants, since all of his armors have a Greco-Roman aesthetic that just does not fit with pants at all. It is very off putting to see someone strutting around in full pants with a Roman skirt on. It makes no sense visually. It really seems like the devs just gave him pants for really no reason at all. I can't think of any legitimate reason they would, honestly. Especially considering the other characters not having them, one of them being a BARBARIAN CHARACTER. Yea give him a skirt with no pants, but not the LATIN ROMAN. Makes sense.
For anyone that says "well just wear the armor that removes his pants, EZ." Well sure, but it is only ONE armor set. That is it. ONE. Sure, technically there are multiple, but they are all the same armor visually just with higher grades of rarity. So, you really only have one option. And secondly, the armor looks Greek. Not Roman. The chestplate of the centurion Rapax armor set looks like a Greek armor set, not a roman one. It looks too Greek. When Centurion wears it, he looks more like a Greek hoplite than an actual Roman Centurion. So, you get one option if you don't like Centurion's jeans and that option makes him look like a Hoplite. Great.
tl;dr Centurion should not have pants because it is disappointing for Romaboos who want to create authentic Romans, it does not fit his host culture or the rest of his aesthetic at all and is visually off-putting, AND his armors all look worse with pants because Greco-Roman designs don't work well with pants because THE GREEKS AND ROMANS DID NOT WEAR THEM.
Just remove his pants. Please and thanks.
