Beardo, the winner of Pahkitew Island

Beardo, the winner of Pahkitew Island

It was just a question I happened to ask myself, and I thought it would be fun to imagine how each contestant might have won their respective season. I’ll start with the Pahkitew cast and work my way back to the first generation. And I’ll start with the second most complicated one: Beardo

Episode 1: It doesn't make much difference to him, except that Leonard will be going in his place. For now, aside from Dave, who finds him unbearable, I guess the others don't have anything against him

Episode 2: Since Leonard isn’t there, the team sticks to Dave’s strategy, which is to send Sky last against Jasmine, while Beardo will face Rodney first. Unfortunately, I don’t think that will be enough, and Jasmine will end up winning for her team. I think Sugar will be eliminated, since she slowed the team down by refusing to give the pig to Ella.

Episode 3: Well, not much has changed here either. I guess the challenge will play out the same way. Plus, Sugar isn’t there to pop Ella’s balloons, which makes it easier for them to win. Amy is eliminated and Sammy takes her place

Episode 4: So I think the challenge will be exactly the same, except for Beardo, who will be asked the following question: “Why do you use sounds to express yourself?” Beardo hesitates a lot, but eventually answers that it’s because he’s shy. The others, especially Dave, now feel empathy for him. From now on, Beardo speaks normally and only makes noises in comical situations. His team wins the challenge and Rodney is eliminated.

Episode 5: Here too, Beardo won’t be a problem for his team; I even think he’ll manage to score a point for them. In any case, with Amy’s return, the opposing team will lose and Sammy will be eliminated.

Episode 6: I’m undecided on this one. I thought that with Sugar out, Ella wouldn’t have been eliminated, so Max would be the one to go, but it’s also possible that Chris saw on the show’s cameras that she had sung. I finally made up my mind and chose to eliminate Max, because I think Ella would be more useful going forward.

Episode 7: No one is eliminated in this episode, and I don’t think Beardo would be very useful either—he wouldn’t change the course of the challenge. However, as for the team switch, I think Chris will choose Beardo and place him on the opposing team without swapping any other contestants. Beardo is now part of the Kinosewak. A change that avoids the horrible drama between Sky and Dave

Episode 8: For this episode, I think either Jasmine or Scarlette will try to win him over. One to make him an ally, the other to manipulate him. For the challenge, I think Beardo’s team will lose because of Topher, who slows the whole team down. So it’s Topher who’s going to leave

The merger: here are the remaining contestants: Jasmine, Scarlette, Shawn, Beardo, Sky, Dave, Ella

Episode 9: For this one, I think Beardo wouldn’t have finished first, so Sky will be the winner, and since Dave won’t need to prove to her that he’s better than she is, he won’t even have started drinking. I think the person likely to be eliminated could be Dave, because he probably helped Sky from the start without playing the game, so I think he’ll be eliminated. Jasmine, Scarlette, and Beardo may have voted for him, and the others probably voted at random.

Episode 10: Nothing new here: the episode plays out as usual. Beardo joins Jasmine and Shawn’s team. Scarlette takes matters into her own hands and ends up getting eliminated. But since it’s a double-elimination episode, I guess Ella could get eliminated too, since Chris is sick of hearing her sing. It’s still an unfair elimination, but oh well.

Episode 11: This one was pretty complicated, but we can assume that Beardo is still on Jasmine’s team and therefore on Shawn’s too. The three of them could help each other out to win; even though I don’t like this ending, it’s the only solution I could come up with. Sky comes in last and ends up getting eliminated.

Episode 12: For the talent contest. Shawn’s challenge doesn’t change, but Beardo could propose an impersonation contest, which would let him win pretty easily. As for Jasmine’s challenge, she could propose a sort of obstacle course pretty similar to Sky’s. I think Beardo will come in last in this challenge, but he might make it through without Shawn’s challenge. Right now, it’s practically a tie between Shawn and Jasmine, but I’ve decided to eliminate Jasmine because I don’t think she’ll be very convincing during Beardo’s challenge

Episode 13: For the finale, Beardo can choose Sky, Shawn, and Jasmine as his allies. The challenge goes smoothly until Chris intervenes and leaks Shawn’s confessionals to Jasmine. Beardo has nothing to say since he has no connection to Sky, but Chris tells them that the guests can win if they prevent the finalists from winning. In this version, Jasmine and Sky would use the command, but not exactly as Dave does in the original version; however, he might accidentally trigger the ice cliff, which would eventually break, sending Beardo toward the finish line and making him the big winner.

Well, it was pretty complicated, and I have to admit I had to take quite a few shortcuts to get there, especially when it came to eliminating Ella and Jasmine. I also didn't dwell on the relationships between the characters, otherwise it would have been too long. I think the next one will be Dave; I already have a few ideas.

For me:
TDI: Justin. He’s just an NPC this season—I couldn’t quote a single line from him.

TDA: I’m not really sure, but I’d say Trent. It’s better to just forget his performance this season.

TDWT: Bridgette. I don’t think she’s relevant this season.

TDROTI: B. Honestly, it’s hard to make a character who doesn’t speak interesting—he’s just there to be Scott’s victim.

TDALL: Sam. Reluctantly, because I really like Sam, but I don’t even know why he was there, and this guy didn’t really do anything memorable—eliminated early, forgotten immediately.

TDPI: Beardo. The poor guy didn’t get a single standout moment or any character development. You have to watch his audition to learn more about him.

TDI(2023): Nichelle. The least interesting character of the season—her storyline is mediocre, her elimination was mediocre, this character is mediocre.

TDI(2024): Chase: This guy is just annoying to begin with. In this season, he was completely useless and left quickly—and good riddance to us.

Obviously, this is just my opinion and how I see things.

Honestly, I don't know if this is a hot take. But Action has the best format in the entire franchise. Having a smaller cast with more episodes really works well. It allows for more in-depth character development, and it's easier to get attached to the characters since we get to see them for longer even if some of the character development is… questionable (Trent).

Priya: A character I really like; she’s strong in the game and she’s a genuinely good person. 7/10

Millie: As much as I like Priya, Millie is a character who leaves me indifferent. I think her objective is just lame, and her character is overshadowed by Priya. However, I’ll admit that her development is pretty cool, and I really liked that. 5/10

Ripper: I have mixed feelings about him I can’t decide if I like him or hate him. I find him really cringy at times but very funny at others. But his character works and he stays true to himself, so for me, that’s okay. 6/10

Damien: The character I liked the most at the beginning; he was really funny, and when he’s confident, he becomes an amazing DJ. It’s a shame he wanted to leave so badly because I honestly think he could have gone far. 9/10

Axel: A mix between Eva and Shawn. I can’t really rate her since we didn’t see enough of her. I hope she’ll be around more in Season 2, but from what we saw of her character, I didn’t think she was that crazy. 4/10

Chase: My biggest disappointment of the season. When I saw his design, I liked him right away, except this guy is just a jerk. I’ve never seen such a stalker—for God’s sake, Emma didn’t want you anymore, and “I’m sorry, you idiots” is exactly what Emma was waiting for, even if you don’t think so. Even if I’m being unfair, this guy is terrible 3/10

Zee: My favorite character of the season and definitely one of my all-time favorites. This guy is just totally chill, laid-back, and completely high. He’s hilarious in everything he does; honestly, I didn’t think he’d go that far, and it’s even better—10/10

Scary Girl: She’s not a character I particularly like, but I have to admit she’s good at what she does—which is being scary—so for me, it works. 6/10

Caleb: NPC/10 i wish his back next season stronger than ever.

Nichelle: Clearly the most forgettable character of the season, and that’s saying something because Caleb is basically just an NPC. I think her storyline is terrible—it has no standout moments, she lets her team down, and she serves no purpose. 1/10

Julia: The revelation of this season—a character I really like. She’s strong at what she does but has diamond-level plot armor, winning immunity way too many times. That’s the problem with characters like her: they have to have immunity, otherwise they’d be eliminated at the first opportunity. But hey, she’s not responsible for that. 7/10

Bowie: Clearly the most interesting character of the season, and thank goodness they didn’t build his character around the fact that he’s gay—that was my biggest fear. Bowie is skilled at manipulation and in the game; he’s a really good antagonist. 8/10

Wayne and Raj: A pretty funny comedy duo; they remind me of the Surfers, but in a hockey version. 7/10

Emma: The couple formed by Emma and Chase is without a doubt the worst in the entire "Total Drama" series. Other than that, I like her character, but I really don't like her story arc—she deserves better than that. Her "friendship" with Bowie was really nice, though. 6/10

Mk: A character I really like: she’s cunning and smart without being mean. Okay, sure, she steals everyone’s confessions, but she has to resort to blackmail. 8/10

That’s it. Was I too harsh on some of the characters? If you’d like more details on a specific character, let me know: I’d be happy to provide them. It was a very good season; I enjoyed almost every episode, except for that damn Episode 5, which doesn’t deserve to exist. The cast is pretty good overall, but I really struggle to connect with the characters—maybe because of nostalgia.

When I first started watching the reboot, everything was going well until episode 5 came along. Maybe it’s because I’ve grown up or something, but that episode really made me uncomfortable; it dragged on forever, and I found most of the characters downright unbearable. I know the fart gag has been around since the beginning of Total Drama, but basing an entire episode on it was really not a good idea. Add to that the fact that Damien got eliminated even though he was my favorite and you’ve got the episode I liked the least. Aside from that, I just finished episode 7, and the season is really good, but I’m having a hard time connecting with the characters probably because of how nostalgic I am for all the others but maybe that’ll change once I finish watching.

Now that I’ve finally found both seasons in my language (French), I’m starting the reboot. And for an episode 1, it’s off to a great start with a cast that looks promising. Bowie is already establishing himself as an antagonist with Caleb’s elimination. I think my favorites are going to be: Damien, Zee, Chase, and Priya—I hope at least one of them wins.
